Poor surface water quality, air pollution, solid waste collection, domestic water supply, and many more environmental issues are plaguing urban areas due to policies encouraging fast urbanization but failing to synchronize infrastructure. This has heightened the importance of urban environmental management.

Contaminants in plating wastewater are hard to remove, especially hexavalent chromium ions. This waste stream contains a large amount of Cr6+, a highly toxic metal, potential to cause cancer. To reduce this pollution, sludge from a supply water treatment plant (DWTS) has been used to make adsorbent.

In addition, national technical regulation on surface water quality is also very useful in evaluating speci¿c problemrelatingto the water quality for a particular water body. This study aims to assess the quality of surface water environment in Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province for domestic water supply using both national technical regulation on surface water quality and water quality index.

Surface water from rivers plays a significant role in socio-economic development in Ca Mau province. It supplies freshwater for agriculture and aquaculture. Faced with the pressures of development, surface water quality in Ca Mau province has been being at stake. The aim of this paper was to assess the water quality status and wastewater receiving capacity of the main rivers of Ca Mau province.

In the recent past, the quality of surface water for domestic use in the Vietnamese Mekong delta (VMD) has been seriously affected by severe water pollution and intense saltwater intrusion. This study aims to assess existing surface water sources in the provinces of Can Tho, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.

Groundwater-surface water interactions include the exchange of fluids and solutes between groundwater and surface water, which can affect water quality and water supply. Investigating the interaction of groundwater and surface water is essential to water managers and hydrologists for the improvement of effective waterresource policy, water resource protection and management. The effects of groundwater-surface-water exchange can occur on a variety of spatial and temporal scales.

The technique of drip irrigation is a solution of water saving for crops in the scarce region. Water is supplied on the soil surface directly, continuously and regularly by drippers and then it infiltrates into the cultivated soil layer to ensure that plants will grow and develop well.

The present study was carried out in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India for the assessment of microbial quality of water sources available for livestock. A total of thirty water samples were collected viz., surface water sources such as lake and pond; municipal water supply; ground water sources such as open well and deep bore well. Microbial assessment was performed by using Presumptive Coliform Test (PCT) and Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC). All the water samples were contaminated with coliforms.

surface methodsA field experiment was conducted at college farm, college of Agriculture, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad , Telangana, during rabi 2016-17 to evaluate effect of irrigation treatments on growth, yield parameters yield and economics of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) in Semi-Arid region of Telangana, India. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block design with three replications and ten treatments, comprising varied levels of irrigation scheduled in different stages of crop growth in both drip and surface method of irrigation.

The presence of Blue-green algae (BGA) toxins in surface water sources and recreation is receiving increasing attention around the world as a public health concern. However, potential risks from exposure to these toxins in contaminated health food products that contain BGA have been largely ignored. Toxic BGA produces compound called microcystin. Fine-grained sediment is a natural and essential component of river systems and plays a major role in the hydrological, geo-morphological and ecological functioning of rivers.

Entero-parasites protozoan of the genera Cryptosporidium and Giardia have emerged over the past decades as major waterborne pathogens with an increasing number of outbreaks reaching over one hundred and sixty. In line with the national goals of providing safe drinking water supplies, this research was designed. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia intestinalis infections in surface water plants from ShebinAl-Kom and Tala, Menoufia Governorate and to evaluate routine water purification methods used for parasitic elimination.

The biofouling issue is a tenacious issue throughout the history of aquaculture farming in the world, however it has elevated in priority as labour and electricity costs have arisen in recent years. Besides, fouling development is frequently fast on the grounds that the waters encompassing aquaculture activities are enhanced by natural and inorganic squanders (uneaten food, fecal and excretory material) created by high-density fish populations.

There has been a growing gap between the demand for maize and its supply. One of the reasons often attributed to decline in maize productivity is poor production practices, awareness and characterized by low use of modern inputs. In order to avoid the lack of all the above to assess the current levels of technical efficiency of maize cultivation like spacing of Maize cultivation with effective management of irrigation practices could be taken as a study.

The present study was undertaken with a view to study the effect of different level of irrigation on biometric parameters of rice crop such as growth, yield and yield attributes and water use efficiency under surface and subsurface drip irrigation. The results shows that the biometric parameters such as plant height, number of tillers per plant, plant dry matter and LAI for rice crop were found maximum in the treatments T3 (subsurface drip) and T8 (conventional irrigation). Water supply to the crops was significantly higher in the treatment T8 as compared to other treatments.

During dry seasons when the surface water disappears and the vegetation dries up, camels have to be watered from subterranean sources such as man made water holes, old wells etc. In highly arid areas as in Eastern Africa, watering camels in dry season is a very time consuming and arduous job since water has to be lifted bucket by bucket from several metres deep wells.

Electrification of workers' villages is strongly recommended. Water supplies from a single surface source for the whole development including the oi l palm mil l and from strategically sited groups of tube wells have been costed. An emergency system of suit- ably capped shallow wells is provided near each estate workers' village. CAMDEV has its own source of seed for improved planting material.

Competing geophysical/geochemical hypotheses for how Earth’s surface became oxygenated – organic carbon burial, hydrogen escape to space, and changes in the redox state of volcanic gases – are examined and a more biologically-based hypothesis is offered in response. It is argued that compared to the modern oxygenated world, organic carbon burial is of minor importance to the accumulation of oxygen in a mainly anoxic world where aerobic respiration is not globally significant. Thus, for the Paleoproterozoic Great Oxidation Event (GOE) ~ 2.

The earth’s surface is two-thirds water, yet most of this is undrinkable or unusable because it is either seawater or ice. Of the 1% that is available as fresh water, most is used for farming or industry. Fresh water pollution is the major problem because many rivers and streams are being polluted with pesticides, industrial waste, and sewage. In poor and developing countries, the addition of sewage to the sources of water leads to diseases, and even death. A United Nations’ report estimates that more than 78% of people drink from polluted water supplies.

As a matter of fact in some countries, mainly in India, groundwater development is much more important than surface water irrigation (Mukherji et al. 2009). While rainfed crops depend only on meteorological conditions, irrigated crops depend both on rain regimes and water supply. The combination of these regimes and the interdependencies between international commodity markets and domestic production create opportunities to ensure that water is allocated to the most valuable ends.
