Transabdominal preperitoneal laparoscopic surgery (TAPP) inguinal hernia (IH) repair has been an alternative to the Lichtenstein procedure. However, there have been concerns about the risks of TAPP in the elderly. We aimed to compare surgical outcomes between the two surgeries in older men with IH.

Falciform ligament hernia is a very rare internal hernia and is difficult to diagnose before surgery. Most reported cases are incisional hernias secondary to prior abdominal surgery. We report three cases of primary falciform ligament herniation into the epigastric region that was repaired by the intra-peritoneal laparoscopic approach combined with an extra-abdominal small skin incision.

Intraoperative blood pressure is a relevant variable for postoperative outcome in infants undergoing surgical procedures. It is therefore important to know whether the type of anesthesia has an impact on intraoperative blood pressure management in very low birth weight infants. Preterm neonates are at higher risk of developing inguinal hernia, and have an increased risk of periop‑ erative adverse events. Laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is claimed to be associated to decreasing perioperative respira‑ tory complications compared to endotracheal tube (ETT) in infants under one year of age receiving minor surgery; thus, we conducted a retrospective survey in former preterm neonates below 5000 g to compare the respiratory complications between LMA and ETT in general anesthesia for inguinal hernia surgeries.

A 5 Year old bullock presented with the history of horn gore trauma on right flank region and not passed dung since last 5 days. On palpation intestinal loops were palpable like clumsy feel on right flank just beneath skin. With this we diagnosed tentatively the case as traumatic hernia. On exploration of right flank laparotomy confirmed muscle rupture and mild peritonitis. The rent was supported by outlay tethering of polypropylene mesh size 6”× 8”. The muscle and skin closed with simple interrupted pattern suture pattern.

A 3 month-old non-descript male pup was presented to the small animal surgery outpatient unit at madras veterinary college with a history of road traffic accident a day back. Upon presentation the dog was ambulatory, dull, and nonresponsive and exhibited a stiff gait and a hunched posture. On auscultation, muffled heart sounds were observed and dysnea was noticed due to reduction of tidal volume. The mucous membrane was pink and moist and the capillary refill time was less than 2 seconds.

Laparoscopic surgery is constantly trying to progress and to surpass its contraindications. A previously operated abdomen or peritoneal adhesions represent nowadays only relative contraindications for a laparoscopic approach in abdominal visceral surgeries not primarily intended to correct parietal defects or to perform adhesiolysis. Meshes implanted intraperitoneally are known to cause adhesions potentially resulting in complications such as chronic pain, enterocutaneous fistula, or mesh infection. This study introduces a model for investigation of intestine-to-mesh adhesions and evaluates as to whether missing of visceral peritoneum is causative.
