In putting together this manual of endoscopic surgery, we have sought to cover the three essential components of the new surgical approach: the technological aspects, the basic endoscopic surgical skills, and the operative techniques. Visualization of the operative field, exposure and execution of remote manipulations are dependent on op­ timal function of the ancillary apparatus without which endoscopic surgery cannot be practised.

Atypical femur fractures are a rare occurrence, especially in bisphosphonate-naïve men, and merit reporting owing to their unusual presentation and clinical implications. This case report highlights a unique instance of atypical femur fractures in a 73-year-old male with no prior bisphosphonate exposure.

Current pre-operative Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN) mapping using dual tracing is associated with drawbacks (radiation exposure, logistic challenges). Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) is a non-inferior alternative for SLN mapping in breast cancer patients. Limited research has been performed on SPIO use and pre-operative MRI in melanoma patients to identify SLNs.

Ischemic or volatile anesthetic preconditioning is defined as tissue protection from impending ischemic cell damage by repetitive short periods of tissue exposure to ischemia or volatile anesthetics. Robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) requires pneumoperitoneum and the Trendelenburg position to optimize surgical exposure, which can increase intracranial pressure (ICP). Anesthetic agents also influence ICP. Bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma also called cancer eye, represents the most economically important neoplasm in large animals. Hereditary factors, environmental factors (e.g. latitude, altitude, exposure to sunlight), lack of eyelid pigmentation, age and dietary habits have all been reported to play a role in the etiopathogenesis of bovine ocular squamous cell carcinoma. Twenty four animals were subjected to surgical excision and autogenous vaccine was administered weekly once for four weeks. All the animals recovered completely with no recurrence for a follow up period of one year.

During robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALP), steep Trendelenburg position and carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum are inevitable for surgical exposure, both of which can impair cardiopulmonary function. The agency has also proposed establishing a new safety standard (FMVSS No. 126) to require electronic stability control (ESC) on all light duty passenger vehicles beginning in MY 2009. 8 ESC can prevent a large percentage of loss-of-control crashes which expose vehicles to the off- road tripping mechanisms that cause most rollovers. Vaccinating girls and women before sexual debut, and therefore before exposure to HPV infection, provides an excellent opportunity to decrease the incidence of cervical cancer over time. Actinic keratosis, also known as solar keratosis, is a pre-cancerous skin condition caused by too much exposure to the sun. Actinic keratoses are usually small (less than 1/4 inch across), rough or scaly spots that may be pink-red or flesh-colored. Usually they develop on the face, ears, backs of the hands, and arms of middle-aged or older people with fair skin, although they can arise on other sun-exposed areas. People with one actinic keratosis usually develop many more. Actinic keratoses tend to grow slowly. They usually do not cause any symptoms.
