The first International Workshop "Contemporary Update on Endoscopic Neurosurgery and Stereotaxy" held in Marburg 1990 enjoyed a widespread and an encouraging response. At that time four years had elapsed since Hugh B. Griffith published his survey of the history and the contemporary standard of endoneurosurgery in Advances and Technical Standards in Neurosurgery.

The paper "Development a prototype of mobile laminar air flow instrument" presents research on the view toward the realization of a mobile laminar airflow system for preventing the contamination of airborne pathogens by protecting the surgical site area as well as the instrument table at low-cost. Simulations with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) were conducted to optimizing system design. The simulation results were examined and evaluated in this paper.

Surgical instrument detection is a vital task in analyzing images of laparoscopic surgery. This study introduces a strong method for detecting surgical instruments using the YOLOv8 model. The evaluation results proves that this model exhibits high accuracy and outperforms previous approaches. Additionally, a web interface is developed for convenient remote monitoring of the instruments.
