In this paper, several IAA farming systems practiced in Vietnam are described, and their impacts are also reviewed. It is speculated that in developing countries like Vietnam, the IAA farming system should be targeted for support as a sustainable food safety model and a form of ecosystem-based technology to reduce environmental impacts, adapt to climate change, help avoid risks from market fluctuation, and increase incomes in comparison with monoculture farming.

The authors applied the desk-study method to collect and review literature research, select a group of six criteria, and then applied the criteria to assess the system's sustainability based on Likert's 3-point scale. The results show that criteria scores ranged from 1.9 points to 2.5 points, while the total score of the whole system is 12.9 points - reaching an average sustainability level.

This study aimed to identify the factors affecting farmers’ adoption of sustainable land management (SLM) practices to combat land degradation in Vietnam. This study examines the costs and benefits of traditional rice production as well as of different adaptation methods to saltwater intrusion in the Central Coastal region of Vietnam. Data is collected through a structured questionnaire at the farm household level, focus groups discussion and through key informant interviews. Our results indicate that traditional rice production becomes less profitable as the level of saltwater intrusion on the land plots increases.
