This paper will figure out the effects of stator and rotor pole to average torque and harmonic torque of the SRM three phase 6/4 30kW, 3000 rpm. Based on this analysis, it is possible to choose the stator pole angle and rotor pole angle values that best suit the SRM 6/4 structure to minimize torque undulation and maximize the average moment.

Switched reluctance motor (SRM) has many advantages with very strong nonlinearity, hence it is difficult to control. This paper presents a new method to control the speed of switched reluctance motor based on backstepping technique and nonlinear state observation. This controller is first applied for switched reluctance motor with nonlinear drive model.

The total solution designs of the tapped-shoe rotor with diferent tapped angles have not yet implemented by those papers so far. For that, in this paper, the tapped shoe rotor pole design is proposed by different angles for the high speed switched reluctance motor of 30 kW and 18000 rpm.

The paper presents a new approach to the speed control of a switched reluctance motors (SRM) is that using a back-stepping controller combining with an artificial neuron network based flux estimator. The nonlinear mathematical model of switched reluctance motor (SRM) is established and the back-stepping control strategy is applied to control SRM. The ANN will be used to estimate the flux of the motor instead of approximated model or experimental values.

This method can realize the initial position estimate of SRM under standstill and inertia status ,it is quite easy to implement, the proposed method not only reduces the initial position estimation error due to improve the reliability of motor starting, and realize motor running of no inversion. The simulation and experimental results verify the correctness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

The concept of switched reluctance machines (SRMs) was established as early in 1838 by Davidson and was used to propel a locomotive on the Glasgow–Edinburgh railway near Falkirk [1]. However, the full potential of the motor could not be utilized with the mechanical switches available in those days. The advent of fast-acting power semiconductor switches revived the interest in SRMs in the 1970s when Professor Lawrenson’s group established the
