We’ve written IBS Cookbook For Dummies as a companion to IBS For Dummies (Wiley). But here we take a closer look at the role food and food preparation can play in both triggering and managing your IBS. Our goal is to show you that not all foods, or even all foods you may expect, are off limits — you just have to know your individual body to recognize what it can and can’t handle. You don’t have to read this book from start to finish — unless you want to, of course. (When we read a For Dummies book, we go straight to the cartoons at the beginning of each part.

Decongestion is an important primary goal in acute heart failure treatment. Loop diuretics remain a fundamental role in congestion management and symptom improvement in patients with acute heart failure. Diuretic combination contributes to achieving better diuretic efficacy. However, the optimal timing for diuretic combination in clinical practice has not been distinctly recommended in current guidelines.

Postpartum ovarian thrombosis is an uncommon condition. It appears with the nonspecific, predominantly right-sided abdominal symptoms and must be differentiated from other acute visceral conditions. If left untreated, postpartum ovarian thrombosis can have severe consequences, including sepsis, pulmonary embolism, and even death. Momentarily, there are no specific guidelines for postpartum ovarian thrombosis management.

The timing of events in the management of osteosarcoma may be critical for patient survivorship; however, the prognostic value of factors such as onset of symptoms or initiation of therapy in these patients has not been studied. This study sought to review the literature reporting treatment of osteosarcoma to determine the utility of event timing as a prognostic indicator.

Cancer patients with financial toxicity experience psychological distress and often miss medical appointments and quit treatments early, which could be a barrier to the effective management of oral chemotherapy drugs at home. This study explores whether financial toxicity predicts symptoms and unplanned healthcare utilization among cancer patients taking oral chemotherapy at home, which will contribute to the safe management of oral chemotherapy.

Up to 70% of breast cancer patients report symptoms of insomnia during and after treatment. Despite the ubiquity of insomnia symptoms, they are under-screened, under-diagnosed and poorly managed in breast cancer patients. Sleep medications treat symptoms but are ineffective to cure insomnia.

Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a systemic granulomatous vasculitis of large vessels with low incidence and nonspecific symptoms, and late diagnosis and management lead to complications such as stroke, acute myocardial infarction or peripheral ischemia. This case illustrates the complexity of TA diagnosis because its symptomatology is frequently mistaken as chronic migraine.
