Stalk rot in maize caused by Fusarium moniliforme has been a concern in majority of maize growing areas. There are no hybrids resistant to this disease. A study was conducted to identify the suitable strategies for effective mitigation of stalk rot. Biocontrol agents were tested by seed treatment and soil application in comparison with chemical seed treatment usually followed for soil borne diseases. Among the different treatments, seed treatment with T. viride and P. fluorescens at 2.5g each/kg of seed and soil application of 1.

Trichoderma spp. is biocontrol agents extensively used in management of fungal diseases of crop plants exhibiting mycoparasitism against a wide range of plant pathogens. Twelve Trichoderma isolates T. asperellum (7), T. harzianum (4) and T. longibrachiatum collected from ten district of U.P from chilli ecosystem were characterized for their antagonistic activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. capsici and Colletotrichum capsici of chilli. The isolates revealed differential reaction pattern against the test pathogens.

Four fungal bioagents viz., Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum, Pochonia chlamydosporia and Purpureocillium lilacinum were screened for their efficacy against Meloidogyne incognita under in-vitro conditions through egg parasitism, egg hatch inhibition and second-stage juveniles mortality test. P. chlamydosporia showed highest egg parasitism. In respect of egg hatch inhibition and juvenile mortality, the culture filtrates of these fungal bioagents were tested and found to be effective in inhibition of egg hatch and mortality of juveniles of M.

A field experiment was conducted during the Rabi season of the year 2017-18 on potato with variety Kufri Ashoka to test the recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) levels (0, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150%) with two organic manures (vermicompost 5 t/ha and mustard oil cake 2.5 t/ha) at research farm of Tirhut college of Agriculture Dholi, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The experiment was carried out in randomized block design (RBD) with twelve treatments and replicated thrice. The soil of experimental plot was Entisols, sandy loam in texture under low available in N, P and K with pH 8.3.

The effect of the introduction time of Trichoderma harzianum into soil on its biocontrol potential against Meloidogyne javanica on tomato plants was evaluated in a greenhouse pot experiment. Seven introduction times (inoculations) of T. harzianum were tested. The fungus was added simultaneously and 5, 10 and 15 days, either before or after the infestation of tomato soil with M. javanica eggs. Plants inoculated with M. javanica alone, T. harzianum alone and non-treated plants served as controls. Results showed that all T. harzianum applications suppressed (P≤ 0.05) M.

Under laboratory conditions using dual culture techniques, bio-control agents (Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis) were tested against Bipolaris oryzae the causal organism of brown spot of rice. Maximum inhibition (65.33 %) of mycelial growth of B. oryzae was caused by T. harzianum, followed by T. viride (57.76%) and P. flourescens (32.68%).

In field study, total 36 treatment combinations consisting of three moisture regimes as main plot treatment and 12 combinations of two levels of FYM, three levels of P carriers as sub-plot treatments evaluated in split plot design with three replications using wheat variety GW-451 as test crop. The results revealed that the maintenance of moisture between 100 and 75 % available water content (W1) significantly increased the length of earhead, number of grains/earhead, 1000-grain weight, grain and straw yield as well as gluten content. The treatments W1 and W2 resulted in 22.11 and 18.

Rice-Wheat cropping system pre-dominated in the India covering an area of about 10.5 million hectare. Adverse effect of continuous puddling in rice field forced scientists to search for other methods of rice establishment like direct seeding; machines transplanted and dry seeding with ZT machine and wheat by zero tillage etc. In a 3‐year study, we assessed the effects of crop establishment methods in participatory mode on farmers’ field through on farm on productivity and profitability in a rice–wheat (RW) system at Basti, Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur district of U.P.

The numbers of crèche facilities are on the increase because more women are becoming financial supports to their families in developing countries. Children become exposed to pathogenic agents most of which are resistant to antibiotic as re-infection is commonly placed in such facilities. In African countries, there are hardly minimum standards or monitoring of such facilities. This study focused on isolating aerobic pathogenic bacteria and determining their antibiotic sensitivity using four crèches in Redemption city.
