  • Stripe or yellow rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. Tritici (Pst), is an important disease in many wheat-growing regions of the world. Although, the pathogen has overcome resistance offered by more than 90 genes and QTLs still, aggregation of resistant genes in future wheat genotypes is the most practical and efficient means of tackling the rapidly evolving virulent races of Pst.

  • Genetic diversity assessment is necessary to help tackle the threats of environmental fluctuations and for the effective exploitation of genetic resources in breeding program. Recent advancement in the field of molecular markers has made the genetic characterization of genotypes rapid, reliable and reproducible. In the present investigation, we have characterized 49 wheat genotypes at molecular level using 52 SSR primers (including Yr specific primers). 27 polymorphic SSR markers were dispersed over the AABBDD wheat genome, a total of 102 alleles were detected with allele range of 1 to 6.

  • African Swine Fever (ASF) is an acute contagious vector borne disease of pigs caused by African Swine Fever virus (ASFV), which is the only known vector transmitted DNA virus and transmitted by the soft tick under genus Ornithodoros. So far the ASF was restricted to most of the African and few European countries. Recently, the disease has crossed the continental borders and reached to Asia and made a huge economic loss in Cambodia, China, Mongolia and Vietnam. • Security is often an afterthought during software development. Realizing security early, especially in the requirement phase, is important so that security problems can be tackled early enough before going further in the process and avoid rework. A more effective approach for security requirement engineering is needed to provide a more systematic way for eliciting adequate security requirements. This paper proposes a methodology for security requirement elicitation based on problem frames. The methodology aims at early integration of security with software development.

  • Twenty years ago, world leaders gathered at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and signed the first global agreement to tackle climate change. At the time, the impacts of climate change on communities and economies were just beginning to be understood, and the role of the private sector in responding to these challenges was only just emerging. But two decades later, climate change is no longer a distant threat looming on the horizon; it has emerged as arguably the greatest global challenge of our time.

  • The previous edition of Energy Technology Perspectives(ETP), published in summer 2008, called for an energy technology revolution to tackle the undesirable consequences of our current patterns of energy supply and use. It also highlighted that, if we did not alter course, concerns about energy security and the threat of dangerous climate change would only become much worse. So what – if any – progress have we made over the last two years in meeting these challenges? At first sight, it may seem as though not much has changed.

  • In 2013, managing the security of devices, small business systems, and large enterprise networks will be more complex than ever before. Users are breaking down the PC monoculture by embracing a wider variety of platforms, each with its own user interface, OS, and security model. • Confronting a terrorist threat that struck the American homeland on September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush responded by laying out a bold foreign policy and national security strategy with few precedents in the modern record of American diplomacy. To deal with the threat of global terror, Bush did not explore a reconfiguration of the global balance of power, as, in very different ways, his father had at the end of the Cold War and Richard Nixon had in the early 1970s.
