  • In this paper, first, we use GJR-GARCH (1,1)-t to fit both Taiwan and Chinese stock markets. Second, we deploy conditional t copula to measure correlation between Taiwan and Chinese stock markets. Finally, we follow the procedure of Gombay and Horvath (1996) and Dias and Embrechts (2004, 2009) to test the unknown correlation change between these two markets.

  • This study examined the impact of some antecedents of green PI among consumers in Vietnam and Taiwan, focusing on the indirect impact of materialistic values (through attitude). All five hypotheses received support from the Vietnam data, confirming the significant impacts of materialistic values (i.e. success and happiness) on attitude, and all three antecedents from the TPB model (i.e. attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control) as positive predictors of green PI.

  • NMR, X-ray analysis, and CD methods are powerful techniques for the study of absolute configuration of bioactive compounds from natural resources. This study presents the results of a joint-study between Vietnam and Taiwan on the bioactive compounds obtained from Vietnamese plants and fungi. Among the tested compounds, hexatenuin A displayed the most significant inhibition of superoxide anion generation and elastase release. These triterpenoids may be used as potential anti-inflammatory agents.

  • The genus Nedyopus Attems, 1914 consisting of 22 known species and subspecies is distributed mainly in East Asia (Japan, Taiwan) and expansively occurs in Vietnam (three species). The paper presents taxonomy and diagnosis of three Nedyopus species recorded in Vietnam: N. dawydoffiae (Attems, 1953), N. mahunkai (Korsós & Golovatch, 1989) and N. pictus (Brölemann, 1916). Of those, N. mahunkai has been widely known in northeastern Vietnam, and N. dawydoffiae has been found in southern Vietnam. The species N. pictus has been recorded only in Tam Dao National Park.

  • During the years of 2006 - 2007, about five food poisoning cases with fatalities caused by marine snails reported in coastal areas of Vietnam. From stock over of poisoning materials from three out of five cases, causative species were identified as Nassarius papillosus, Nassasius (Alectrion) glans glans, N. (Zeuxis) comptus and Natica (Natica) fasciata. These species also caused poisonings in several countries such as Japan, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan.
