  • To develop fertilizer prescription equation for rice, a field experiment was conducted on an inceptisol of farmer‟s field at Arachikuppam village, Puducherry during 2015 by using integrated plant nutrient management system on the basis of STCR approach. The rice grain and straw yield was significantly increased with the soil test values and fertilizer doses of N, P and K. Based on the experiment, the nutrient requirement for producing 1 quintal of rice grain was 1.46 kg of N, 0.60 kg of P2O5 and 1.12 kg of K2O, respectively.

  • The maximum yield potential of Bt cotton is yet to be trapped under irrigated conditions which is low for various reasons. Among the different constraints in cotton major reduction in yield is due to leaf reddening which results in 30-60% of yield loss. Leaf reddening in cotton is also known as red leaf disease (lal patti). This disorder is an outcome of interaction of location, variety, environmental condition and nitrogen, potassium, magnesium etc. supply.

  • With the advent of Bt cultivars cotton production is reinvigorated in the country with China being on the verge of being knocked down on the production front. However, of late the stagnating or the decreasing productivity either due to degrading natural resources and faulty practices and/or susceptibility of transgenic cultivars to insect damage, leaf reddening and climate change are making the researcher to take stock of the situation before embarking on agronomic studies with higher yield goals. Hence, the review.

  • Zinc (Zn) is a micronutrient, which is involved in activating many physiological and biochemical processes. Inadequate supply of Zn affects crop growth, development and in turn yields. Most of us depend on agriculture based foods which are grown under inadequate Zn supply and hence we get less of Zn as recommended. A few strategic approaches are being adapted to overcome inadequacy of Zn in food. Biofortification is one of the best strategies to enhance the Zn content in the food grain.

  • Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the most important vegetable cultivated all over India. This crop is infected by many diseases and the most important disease reported in this crop causing yield loss about 90-100% is collar rot caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. Biological control of soil borne plant pathogen is gaining much importance due to its ecofriendly, economic and being harmless to non target organism in nature.

  • Plants in nature are constantly exposed to a variety of abiotic and biotic stresses which limits their growth and production. Enhancing crop yield and production to feed exponentially growing global population in a sustainable manner by reduced chemical fertilization and agrochemicals will be a big challenge. Recently, the targeted application of beneficial plant microbiome and their cocktails to counteract abiotic and biotic stress is gaining momentum and becomes an exciting frontier of research.

  • The present experiment was conducted during kharif-2016 at ARS, Dhadesugur with ten treatments and three replications. Results revealed that the significant higher grain and straw yield were recorded with nutrients applied through SSNM approach (7,358 and 10,674 kg ha-1 , respectively) as compare to other treatments. Further, omission of major nutrients has resulted in yield loss of 56 per cent (-N), 16.5 per cent (-P) and 20 per cent (-K) compared to SSNM treatment. Application of fertilizers as per SSNM approach noticed higher nitrogen and phosphorus use efficiency (94.05 and 49.

  • This paper examines the effect of target Federal funds rate changes on major five foreign exchange markets: Canada, Australia, Euro, Japan and the UK during the period from 2000 to 2007. Two different approaches of Rai, Seth and Mohanty (2007) and the event study of Brown and Warner (1980, 1985) are used in our paper. The results show that event-study method yields a stronger relationship between the U.S. Federal funds rate and exchange rates. On average, evidences are consistent with our expectations: federal funds rate increases (decreases) are associated with the U.S.
