  • The inner integument is recorded two types. The data proved useful in the construction of a bracketed key to the species. The potential taxonomic value of the recorded characters is indicated by the richness of variation recorded in the limited sample of genera and species.

  • The heterotrophic dinoflagellate Noctiluca scintillans was a major component of plankton samples in the Sinop region, presenting its highest values in April 2005. Mesozooplankton abundance values showed significant differences (except 2007–2009 and 2008–2009) during the 5-year sampling period. Since the middle of 2006, an increase in abundance, biomass, and biodiversity of mesozooplankton has been detected. Many mesozooplanktonic species/groups showed seasonality in the study (especially Cladocera species). This seasonality was determined to be based on temperature changes.

  • Macro- and micromorphological features of fruit and seeds belonging to 12 taxa genera of Matthiola W.T.Aiton were studied via stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope. In macromorphological studies, the following variables were investigated: the shape, size, and color of fruit and seeds; the length of fruiting pedicel; the structure of the median vein; stigma (horns); and trichome properties and density in fruit. In micromorphological studies, the presence or absence of seed wings, seed coat pattern in disc and wing, and epidermal cell shape in disc and wing were determined.

  • An analysis of the taxonomic diversity of benthic diatoms was carried out for near-shore biotopes of Crimea with different content of trace metals and organic pollutants (PCBs, PAHs, DDTs). Taxonomic distinctness indices such as average taxonomic distinctness, AvTD (Δ+) and variation in taxonomic distinctness, VarTD (Λ+) were used for evaluation of the hierarchical structure of diatom taxocenes of two intact sites (Dvuyakornaya Bay and Cape Fiolent) and two heavily polluted water areas (Sevastopol Bay and Balaklava Bay).

  • A spreadsheet dealing with standard deviations allows statistical examination of continuous variables associated with paraphyly in systematics, with examples in the Pottiaceae (Bryophyta). Outlier values in taxonomic representation of distribution with the structure of (w–)x–y(–z) of continuous variables can be empirically supported. The use of the geometric mean and intuitional estimation is reexamined. Published reports of the distance between maximally distant exemplars of individual paraphyletic species in molecular cladograms in several studies were reevaluated as metadata.

  • The causes and consequences of genome size variation across Eukaryotes, which spans five orders of magnitude, have been hotly debated since before the advent of genome sequencing. Previous studies have mostly examined variation among larger taxonomic units (e.g., orders, or genera), while comparisons among closely related species are rare.

  • In Vietnam, several authors (Pham Hoang Ho, 1999; Nguyen Tien Ban, 2003) have taxonomically studied Myricaceae, and recorded one Myrica esculenta Buch.- Ham. ex. D. Don with three varieties; M. esculenta var. balansae Dode; M. esculenta var. chevalieri (Dode) Phamh; M. esculenta var. tonkinesis (A. Chev.) Dode. However, Chan and Huyen (2000) recognized one to two species of Myrica for Vietnam. They recognized Myrica rubra from Vietnam but did not provide any information about distribution, examined specimen, as well as morphological characteristics.

  • Cardinalfishes belongs to the family, Apogonidae is cryptic in nature that often shows taxonomic ambiguity through conventional taxonomy. It is globally accepted that mitochondrial DNA marker i.e., Cytochrome C Oxidase (COI) can be used to resolve these taxonomic uncertainties. In the present study, the DNA barcode was developed using COI marker for the two species of cardinalfishes (Archamia bleekeri and Ostorhinchus fleurieu) collected from Thoothukudi coast. Results showed that the distance values between the two species are higher than that of within the species.

  • Nutrient contents in the leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (L) made it to occupy the pace making place in the sericultural practices. The mulberry, Morus alba (L.) is native to eastern and central China. It became naturalized in Europe centuries ago. The tree was introduced into America for silkworm culture in early colonial times and naturalized and hybridized with the native red mulberry. The red or American mulberry is native to eastern United States from Massachusetts to Kansas and down to the Gulf coast.

  • This study presents macro- and micromorphological characters, including fruit and seed shape, size, colour, fruiting pedicel size, fruit hair and density, seed coat pattern, epidermal cell shape, and anticlinal and periclinal cell walls. The results showed that the morphological characteristics of the fruit and seed could be used as criteria to distinguish genera and tribes.

  • Although Opuntia species are of high agronomic value in Korea, the taxonomic position of Korean Opuntia species has never been investigated. The taxonomic position of Korean Opuntia spp. within the tribe Opuntieae was examined based on DNA sequence analysis of matK, trnL-F, atpB-rbcl, and ITS regions.

  • The result, which we call Inheritance G r a m m a r , is a proper superset of DCG and includes many features of PATR-II. Its taxonomic reasoning facilitates semantic type-class represent lexical, syntactic and semantic categories and other feature values. In many formalisms (e.g. DCG and PATR-II), equality is the only operation for symbols; in IG symbols are related in an IS-A hierarchy.

  • According to Government Code, Section 14740, California’s Records Management Program is designed to “…apply efficient and economical management methods to the creation, utilization, maintenance, retention, preservation, and disposal of state records”. Effective Records Management ensures that records are kept only as long as they have some administrative, fiscal, or legal value. When records no longer fulfill the value for which they were created, they should be destroyed unless they also have some historic or research significance.

  • The simplest way to think of Oracle’s implementation of read consistency is to imagine each user operating a private copy of the database, hence the multiversion consistency model. Read Consistency, Undo Records, and Transactions To manage the multiversion consistency model, Oracle must create a read-consistent set of data when a table is queried (read) and simultaneously updated (written). When an update occurs, the original data values changed by the update are recorded in the database undo records.

  • The tapping of the credit lines were happening at precisely the moment that the risk constraints were binding harder for the banking sector. Tighter value at risk constraints translated to higher shadow value of capital and hence to the desired contraction of balance sheets. Contracting balance sheets of hedge funds and other holders of ABCPs led to a fall in the demand for the liabilities issued by SIVs and conduits. In late July and early August, SIVs and conduits began to experience diffi culties in rolling over their short term liabilities.

  • Many of the techniques that have been developed have already been used to study the extent and distribution of variation in species gene-pools and to investigate evolutionary and taxonomic relationships among plant populations. With the development of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based techniques, in particular, numerous molecular technologies have been, and still are being, developed, which can be used for the detection, characterization, and evaluation of genetic diversity in plant populations.
