Cynodon dactylon × Cynodon transvaalensis is one of the most important turfgrasses. Sequencing the C. dactylon × C. transvaalensis mitochondrial genome can help us learn more about its genomic composition and allow further study of the population genetics, taxonomy, and evolutionary biology of Poaceae plants and other related species. Illumina sequencing of a marker gene is popular in metagenomic studies. However, Illumina paired-end (PE) reads sometimes cannot be merged into single reads for subsequent analysis. The automatic interpretation of noun-noun compounds is an important subproblem within many natural language processing applications and is an area of increasing interest. The problem is difficult, with disagreement regarding the number and nature of the relations, low inter-annotator agreement, and limited annotated data. In this paper, we present a novel taxonomy of relations that integrates previous relations, the largest publicly-available annotated dataset, and a supervised classification method for automatic noun compound interpretation.

While a taxonomy captures names of things, an ontology captures concepts and relation- ships. We would like to explore the use of RDF to grow not just folksonomies, but also folk- sologies (folk ontologies). For this purpose, we model tags not as text keywords, but as RDF re- sources named by URIs with keywords as their labels, so that it is possible to annotate them.
