Tuberculosis (TB) is a global infectious threat that is intensified by an increasing incidence of highly drug-resistant disease. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) studies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of TB, have greatly increased our understanding of this pathogen.

The incidence and adverse events of postoperative blood transfusion in spinal tuberculosis (TB) have attracted increasing attention. Our purpose was to develop a prediction model to evaluate blood transfusion risk after spinal fusion (SF) for spinal TB.

Radial endobronchial ultrasound in diagnosing peripheral lung lesions in a high tuberculosis setting
Current data for the utility of radial endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) in investigating peripheral lung lesions (PLLs) has been restricted to populations with low pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) incidence. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic utility of radial EBUS with guide sheath in the diagnosis of peripheral lung lesions in Singapore, a high TB incidence setting.

Up to fifty percent of microbiologically cured tuberculosis (TB) patients may be left with permanent, moderate or severe pulmonary function impairment. Very few studies have systematically examined pulmonary outcomes in patients to understand the pathophysiologic basis and long-term socio-economic consequences of this injury.

Social determinants may influence the incidence and control of tuberculosis (TB). The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between social determinants and pulmonary TB (PTB) incidence and treatment outcomes in different regions in Brazil.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s most devastating public health threats. Our goal is to evaluate whether the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) affect the risk of new incident active TB disease.

The phase III REMoxTB study prospectively enrolled HIV-positive (with CD4+ count > 250 cells, not on anti-retroviral therapy) and HIV-negative patients. We investigated the incidence of adverse events and cure rates according to HIV status for patients receiving standard TB therapy in the trial.

The incidence of tuberculosis (TB) is high among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected Ugandans. Recent evidence suggests that Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis and Aspergillus sensitisation might be responsible for significant mortality in patients treated for tuberculosis in Uganda.

The inherent risk of developing tuberculosis (TB) in HIV- infected individuals is further enhanced by hypovitaminosis D. Interventions that offset HIV-associated immune deterioration potentially arrest disease progression and incidence of opportunistic infections including TB. Despite conflicting reports on association between vitamin D deficiency (VDD) and risk of TB, vitamin D (VD) supplementation remains a promising intervention.

A Study on HIV/TB Co-infection in and Around Khammam, Telangana Tuberculosis is the most common opportunistic infection and the major cause of death in HIV positive patients. In India, the incidence of TB is about 40% in general population and about 25- 30% extra cases are due to HIV infection. To study the demographical and clinical factors associated among HIV/TB co-infected patients in and around Khammam. A crosssectional study was conducted among 107 HIV/TB co-infected patients attending ICTC centre in the district hospital Khammam from July-November 2016.

The frequency of fungal infections in tuberculosis patients has increased in recent years. A study published in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization estimates that more than a million people develop chronic pulmonary aspergillosis after being treated for TB every year. As bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid samples are generally useful specimens in the diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA), this study was designed to evaluate the incidence of fungal infections in pulmonary tuberculosis patients by direct microscopy and culture of BAL samples.

Tuberculosis (TB) is the commonest opportunistic infection and cause of death in patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in developing countries. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 85% treatment success rate for all TB cases as an indicator of TB control. The study aimed at determining TB co infection among the seropositive cases. It was a cross-sectional study among seropositive patients whose sociodemographic characteristics with treatment history were obtained using a semi-structured questionnaire.

During the course of the HIV epidemic in Chiang Rai Province in Northern Thailand, incidence of tuberculosis also sharply increased. Up to the year 2002, there were no specific interventions for the prevention and control of TB infection among the household contacts of an infected person. The study aimed to identify prevalence of HIV infection and risk factors of tuberculosis infection among household contacts.

Therefore, this paper contributes to the existing literature by showing that the in- teraction of effort choices could work in both directions, even within the same firm at the same time. In particular, we show that a “positive interaction” should exist between complementary workers, while workers who are substitutes may free ride off the effort of each other, and thus generate a “negative interaction” in the effort choices of co-workers.

Even before the 1890s depression, some dairymen who had prospered in the southern part of the (then) colony of NSW, had begun to move to the wilderness area between the Richmond River (which ran through Lismore) and the Tweed River (which ran through Murwillumbah). In the 1890s both the government of George Dibbs (which held office until 1894) and the government of George Reid (which followed) saw an emphasis on dairying as a partial remedy for the 1890s depression.
