  • This case report describes surgical removal of 3rd permanent corner incisor tooth along with hemorrhagic gingiva in buffalo caused due to oral trauma. The case was presented at Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, International Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (IIVER) Rohtak Haryana, with history of drooling of saliva, anorexia, absence of mastication and bleeding from mouth. Clinical examination revealed traumatic and hemorrhagic swollen area in 3rd permanent corner incisor tooth gingiva of lower jaw. Swollen area was hard, hot, painful and hemorrhagic.

  • In the present study, a total of 315 blood samples were collected in vacutainer with and without anti-coagulant from dogs presented to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College, Shivamogga and private clinics in Mangaluru as well as dogs in nongovernmental organization at Mangaluru. The blood samples collected with anti-coagulant were used for detection of microfilaria by modified Knott’s method.

  • Seven years old Crossbred Cow was presented in Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex showing the signs of Cervico-Vaginal Prolapse. A thorough examination was done and on per rectal examination the foetus along with intact placenta could be palpated with positive fetal reflexes. The cow was administered 5ml of Lignocaine hydrochloride (2%) through caudal epidural space to prevent straining and numbness of pelvic sensation in order to insert the prolapsed mass back into the vagina.

  • A rare case of caprine theileriosis is described and discussed in this report. A three years old female non-descript, goat was brought to the Small Ruminant Care Unit, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal with the history of anorexia, and prostation.   • Accumulation of chyle in the thoracic cavity is called as chylothorax. A five year old male Rottweiler was presented to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Maanuthy with the history of limb edema and labored breathing. On auscultation of lung crackles and high intensity sounds and muffled heart sounds were observed. Radiography confirms the presence of effusion in the thoracic cavity. Solitary Ventricular Premature Complexes were observed in the three-minute electrocardiographic examination. Thoracic ultrasonography revealed anechoic areas, which confirmed pleural effusions.

  • A 7 yrs old uncastrated male Labrador retriever dog was presented to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex with a history of frequent vomition, discomfort and anorexia. On Further anamnesis it was found that the dog was frequently voiding urine in small volumes which was followed by few drops of blood. The abdominal radiograph revealed multiple bladder stones with larger one surrounding a urinary catheter. The uroliths were removed through cystotomy and diagnosed as struvite, which is predominantly a resultant of foreign body and urinary tract infection.

  • A total of 150 dogs brought to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TCCC), Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, from September, 2015 to April, 2016 were screened for the haemoparasite, H. canis by blood smear examination and polymerase chain reaction which revealed a positivity of 0.66 and 5.33 per cent, respectively.

  • Canine parvovirus (CPV) is a highly contagious cause of serious and often fatal disease in dogs. An unvaccinated male non-descriptive pup of 4 months old with the history of pyrexia, frequent haemorrhagic diarrhea and vomiting was presented to the Infectious Unit of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC), Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal. The CPV infection was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with concurrent infection by Ancylostoma sp and complication by E.coli.

  • Clinical parasitism occurs less frequently in goats, however, the parasites of the stomach and intestine could lead to scouring, dehydration, anemia, depression and eventually death. The incidence of gastro-intestinal helminthic and protozoan parasites was identified by coprological survey made in diarrhoeic goats brought to the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex (TVCC), Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal. The study revealed the incidence of gastrointestinal parasites predominantly by Eimeria spp. and Strongylus spp. followed by Moniezia spp., Strongyloides spp.

  • A 3-year-old buffalo with a history of 3 months old proliferative overgrowth in the left nostril occluding whole nostril was presented in Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex. There was laboured breathing; however, the clinical parameters were found within normal range. The growth was removed surgically and tissue was processed for cytology and histopathology. Grossly, the cut surface of the growth appeared “creamish white with multifocal pale yellow areas of calcification.” Impression smear revealed abundant neutrophils and macrophages engulfing bacteria.

  • One year old and four years old she buffaloes with a history of pedunculated overgrowth below left ear and backside of the right elbow respectively were presented in Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex. The growths were painful and removed surgically. Impression smears and tissue samples were processed for cytology and histopathological examination. Grossly, the cut surface of the growth appeared “greenish, dirty brown with foul smell.” Impression smear revealed abundant free microfilariae and inflammatory cells such as neutrophils, eosinophils and macrophages.

  • A 5 years old cross bred Holstein Friesian cow was presented to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex with the history of unilateral swelling around vulva and difficulty in urination. On the basis of history and clinical examination it was diagnosed as perineal hernia. Under epidural anaesthesia the animal was operated for perineal herniorrhaphy in standing position and urinary bladder and omentum were found as hernial content. Ten days post-operatively the animal made an uneventful recovery with normal urination.

  • The present case report deals with surgical management of perosis/slipped tendon in a White Pekin Duck reported to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, LUVAS Hisar. Also the present study concluded that perosis can be managed successfully in young ducks. Euthanasia may be necessary if the condition cannot be corrected.

  • Cesarean section is a life-saving surgical procedure usually undertaken in sheep and goats that fail to deliver vaginally (dystocia). A local non descript breed of sheep was presented to veterinary teaching clinical complex with difficulty in parturition. Fetal examination revealed dead fetus with no fetal reflex. Cesarean section was undertaken in ewe and the dead fetus was successfully taken out followed by post operative care. The case was followed up for 2 weeks after treatment and the ewe was bright and alert and responded well to the treatment.
