The study for forest-crop-people relationship in Garhwal Himalaya is important because there is a need of sustainable indigenous agroforestry system to overcome the problem of shrinking agroforestry areas in hilly regions which are mainly due to the scarcity of water and climate change.

Study on Genetic Diversity was conducted with 16 chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) genotypes at the field of Vegetable Research Block of V.C.S.G. Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Ranichauri Campus Tehri- Garhwal during Kharif2014. Genetic diversity among 16 chilli genotype was worked out usingD2 statistic. On the basis of genetic distance, these genotypes were grouped into 5 clusters. Cluster I was largest, consisting of nine genotypes followed by cluster II with four genotypes while cluster III, IV and V contained single genotype each.

A field experiment with three replications was conducted at two locations of College of Forestry, Ranichauri, Tehri Garhwal, V.C.S.G. Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry. One location selected was at Plant Breeding Block (2100-2200 m above msl) and other at Gaja Research Station (1600-1`700 m above msl) for the screening of barnyard millet germplasm in Advance Varietal Trial against per cent damage caused by shoot fly and stem borer during Kharif 2017 under ICAR- All India Coordinated Research Project on Small Millets.
