In this investigation, a new nanocomposite as a nanocarrier based on functionalized graphene oxide was synthesized by reaction of tetraethylenepentamine and chlorosulfonic acid with functional groups on the surface of GO. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by FT-IR, XRD TGA, FE-SEM, EDAX, TEM, and AFM analysis. To explore the potential of nanocomposites in drug delivery, the loading and releases of quercetin as an anticancer drug were investigated.

SEM and TEM were used to evaluate the surface morphology and microstructure of the fiber membrane. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used to detect drug release. A LIVE/DEAD Viability/Cytotoxicity Kit and fluorescence staining were used to detect cell morphology and activity. Alkaline phosphatase and calcium mineralization deposition were used to evaluate the osteoinductive activity of the scaffold. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to determine the Young’s modulus, maximum load, and maximum elongation of the prepared scaffold.

Kaolin sample (mixture of halloysite and kaolinite) from Thach Khoan, Phu Tho province was studied to remove Pb2+ ions from an aqueous solution. The SEM-EDS and TEM analysis showed that in the kaolin sample, tubular halloysite and plate kaolinite minerals coexist, similar to the results from previous studies.

We characterize the trunk cuticle of velvet worms of the Peripatoides novaezealandiae-group (Onychophora) using SEM, TEM, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TEM and SEM revealed a relatively uniform organization of the delicate cuticle that is covered by numerous bristled and nonbristled papillae with ribbed scales arranged in transverse rows. The cuticle consists of a very thin multilayered epicuticle of varying appearance followed by the largely fibrous procuticle.

The surface of mesocellular silica foam (MCF) was modified by grafting 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTES) to have a positive charge, and thus to provide sites for the immobilization of H3PW12O40(PW12). This modified nanosized mesoporous silica (PW12-APTES@MCF) was characterized by FTIR, XRD, BET, and TEM. XRD and adsorption–desorption analysis shows that the mesostructure of silica remains intact after various modifications, while the spectral technique shows the successful grafting of the neat PW12 inside the porous silica support.

SiO2 supported core@shell nanoparticles (CSNs) have recently attracted great attention due to their unique, tunable, optical, photocatalytic, and higher adsorption properties. In this study, SiO2@CeO2 CSNs were synthesized using a chemical precipitation technique and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. XRD analysis showed that SiO2 particles were the core while CeO2 particles were the shell.

For the first time the synthesis of poly(N -vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)-stabilized cobalt-palladium nanoparticles by an easy method, their characterization, and their use as active catalysts for hydrogen release from hydrolysis of ammonia borane and hydrazine borane is reported here. The catalyst is prepared by simultaneous reduction of suitable cobalt and palladium ions by sodium borohydride in the presence of poly(N -vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) as a stabilizer. They are characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM analysis, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Our studies on the selective catalytic reduction of NO (SCR-deNO) properties of M/γ-Al2O3 (M = Mn, Co, Cu) nanocatalysts are presented. All catalysts were prepared by homogeneous deposition precipitation using urea as the precursor for the precipitating agent. The SCR activity followed the order Mn/γ-Al2O3 > Cu/γ-Al2O3 > Co/γ-Al2O3. The nanocatalysts were characterized with respect to their texture (N2-BET), particle size (TEM), reducibility (H2-TPR), and acidity (NH3-TPD).
