  • In this paper, the tensile performance of 3D printed continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials is investigated. Continuous carbon fiber and Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PetG) are employed as reinforcement and matrix, respectively. Pure solid plastic infill, unidirectional fiber infill, and +45/-45 fiber infill patterns specimens are selected for printing and testing.

  • "Standard Specification for Cupola Malleable Iron" covers malleable irons for castings made by the cupola process. Without knowledge of casting geometry and process details, quantitative relationships cannot be stated between the properties of the iron in the various locations of a casting and those of a test bar cast from the same iron.

  • "Standard Specification for Pearlitic Malleable Iron" covers pearlitic malleable iron castings for general engineering usage at temperatures from normal ambient to approximately 750°F [400°C]. For continuous service at temperatures up to 1200°F [650°C] design factors should be incorporated to compensate for possible property changes, as demonstrated by Marshall and Sommer2 and by Pearson.

  • "Standard Specification for Steel Wire, Music Spring Quality" covers two types of round, cold-drawn steel music spring quality wire, uniform in mechanical properties, intended especially for the manufacture of springs subject to high stresses or requiring good fatigue properties. The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard.

  • This specification covers minimum requirements for steel fibers intended for use in fiber-reinforced concrete. Five types of steel fibers for this purpose are defined as pieces of smooth or deformed cold-drawn wire; smooth or deformed cut sheet; melt-extracted fibers; mill-cut or modified cold-drawn wire steel fibers that are sufficiently small to be dispersed at random in a concrete mixture.

  • This specification covers uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wire for use in the construction of prestressed concrete tanks and similar structures. In application, the wire is continuously wrapped on the structure maintaining tension by a device using a wire drawing die, or mechanical tensioning system without re-drawing.

  • The article reports upon the preparation and characterization of organo-functionalized NieAl layered double hydroxide (LDH)-polystyrene (PS) nanocomposites. Initially, pristine NieAl LDH was synthesized via the co-precipitation technique and was subsequently treated using sodium dodecyl sulfate to obtain organo-functionalized NieAl LDH (ONieAl LDH).

  • This project investigates the use of free radical initiators in the recycling of post consumer recycled high density polyethylene using reactive extrusion. Both molecular and rheological characterisation of recycled and reprocessed materials was carried out and this was followed by tensile testing of the modified materials to satisfy end use applications such as packaging and drainage piping.

  • Blend solutions of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and N-(2-hydroxy)-propyl-3-trimethylammonium chitosan chloride (QCh) were successfully electrospun. Tensile tests revealed that the nonwovens present a good balance between elasticity and strength under both dry and hydrated state. Results indicate that the PCL/ QCh electrospun nonwovens are new nanofibers-based biomaterials potentially useful as wound dressings.

  • Small specimens of spruce wood with different degrees of delignification were studied using in-situ tensile tests and simultaneous synchrotron X-ray diffraction to reveal the effect of delignification and densification on their tensile properties at relative humidities of 70–80 %. In addition to mechanical properties, these analyses yield the ratio of strains in the cellulose crystals and in the bulk, which reflects the stress-transfer to crystalline cellulose.
