
Textbook evaluation

This study aims to examine the extent to which critical thinking (CT) is represented in the English textbook Super Minds Level 3 which has been used to teach English to the elementary level. The textbook analysis is based on two frameworks including the analytic categories of CT and the material evaluation checklists.

This study was conducted to find out the opinions of lecturers and students about the teaching-learning contents in the textbook "Active Skills for Reading 4" used to teach Reading Skills level 6 to third-year students majoring in English at Hanoi Open University. The author used a mixed research method, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods to analyze data.

The study aims at evaluating the textbook Tiếng Anh 6 (10-year program) to explore if it really meets the defined aims of the course and if it is appropriate to the students’ level of English and their background knowledge. I also hope that the findings of the thesis will partly help to decide whether to modify any contents or the structure of the book to improve the quality and the effectiveness of the material.
