The amount of irrigated water

Drought is an abiotic stress factor that negatively affects plant development and causes economic losses in plant production, and its effect is getting significant every day. Spinach contains a high amount of water and drought stress affects its development as well as causing changes in its biochemical contents. In this study, it is aimed to determine the changes in the morphological, physiological, and biochemical contents of spinach grown under deficit irrigation conditions in different stages of development.

In irrigated wet seeded rice culture, water use efficiency on the farm can be increased by applying only the amount of water needed. Among the different methods of water-saving irrigation, the most widely adopted is alternate wetting and drying AWD irrigation method (Li and Barker, 2004).

Scarcity of irrigation water in critical growth stages of the crop is one of the major causes of low productivity and decline of citrus orchards. Regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) is a recently proposed water saving technique in irrigated agriculture. The present study was planned with a hypothesis that the optimal RDI scheduling at early fruit growth period (EFGP), which coincides with summer months could save substantial amount of water, without significantly affecting the yield of ‘Kinnow’ mandarin plants.

Management of two critical and important resources viz., Land and water in agriculture has become a challenging task for many reasons. In rainfed and irrigated agriculture, land development plays a key role because of undulating topography of the soil surface. It has a major impact on the germination, water saving and crop yield. Conventional methods of land levelling are more cumbersome and not so precise and repetitive in nature and mainly depend on the skills of the driver.

Drip irrigation has the greatest potential for the efficient use of water and fertilizers. The limited area of wetting under trickle irrigation reduces the active root zone and also the foraging area of plants to draw water and nutrients from the soil. For minimizing the cost of irrigation and fertilizers, adoption of drip irrigation with fertigation is essential which will maximize the nutrient uptake, while using minimum amount of water and fertilizer.

A field experiment was conducted at the experimental field twelve Mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) genotypes under water stress condition. A wide diversity among the genotypes in their root characters including yield was recorded. Genotypes varied from genotypes TBG-104, KU-12-13 root length was increased during moisture stress condition in both the years. But genotypes showed lower amount of root dry weight, pod dry weight along with number pods per plant and number pods per cluster in irrigated control as well as moisture condition.

This study was conducted in order to determine effect of water requirement, irrigation treatments and water use efficiency of capsicum crop. Experiments were carried out in the College of Agricultural Engineering, Madakasira between January to May 2018, with cv. Indra. The maximum yield of 4.3 t ha-1 was obtained from treatment 1(1.0 ETc ). The seasonal irrigation water amount of treatment was 562.5 mm determined by AquaCrop 6.0 model.

High yield potentiality of summer rice motivates farmers in West Bengal to grow rice even in summer season. Summer rice receives few fold higher irrigation over other aerable crops. Farmers of this area irrigate 1300-1400 mm water for summer rice. In Nadia district of West-Bengal during summer season, the main source of irrigation water is ground water which contains high amount (0.098-0.345 mgL-1 ) of arsenic which is responsible for higher arsenic concentration in grain and straw.

Irrigation is one of the artificial way of supplying water to the plants/crops. The amount of water which will be available at the root zone of the plants depends upon the method of irrigation. The efficient use of water greatly depends on that where and how water is applying. Efficient use of is necessary to conserve the water for future use. Since water resources are exhaustible so it needs to conserve.

Land and water resources are finite and their management is crucial for improving food security in the country. Adoption of drip irrigation proved to be technically feasible and helps in saving significant amount of water and increase the quality and quantity of produce. Baby corn is a unique cereal with high nutritional value.

A huge amount has been invested on irrigation project but these project are not achieving the target most of these hence the very low water productivity ranging wet been 0.52-0.72 kg/m3 and 30-50 irrigation efficiency lining of the canal and transpiring the management to WUA also could not result in this scenario.

Paper and pulp mills discharge large volumes of wastewater into the environment. Crop productivity can be improved by using this wastewater, which is rich in salts and nutrients, as an irrigation source improves crop productivity by supplying enormous amount of nutrients. But for a long termit leads to development of soil salinity and sodicity and also calcareousness.

ugar cane is one of the most important field crops in the tropics. Sugarcane is grown is not less than 105 countries and presently it covers a total acreage of about 19 million hectares for a world production of approximately 1.3 billion metric ton of cane and 127 million ton of sugar. Sub surface drip irrigation is the most advanced method of irrigation, which enables the application of small amounts of water to soil through the drippers placed below the soil surface with discharge rates.

The Waeriuapa is the main river in the Wae Riuapa watershed which is widely used for agricultural irrigation, fishery cultivation ponds and domestic needs such as bathing and washing. As a flowing open-water ecosystem, the Riuapa river receives external disposals starting from upstream to downstream in the form of domestic waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste and from natural disasters such as erosion and landslides.

Water is a critical input for productivity enhancement especially of field crops. Its judicious and optimum use is needed utmost for realizing higher resource use efficiency and plugging gaps in production. Key technological interventions, which could alter or rectify the usage pattern or strategies in freshwater utilization in agriculture, are the need of the hour. Precision water management approach could help in conserving and making more-efficient use of scarce water resources through integrated management combined with selected external inputs/technologies.

In order to give precise amount of irrigation through drip irrigation system, it is important to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) and crop evapotranspiration (ETc) for any crops. In this study, crop evapotranspiration (ETc) was determined for the Green chilli cultivated in the polyhouse and open field for the semi-arid climatic condition in Kumulur, Tamil Nadu, as it changes with the crop characteristics, climatic conditions and management practices. The chilli variety chosen was TNAU Hybrid CO1.

Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) can substantially reduce the amount of irrigation water needed for corn production. However, corn yields need to be improved to offset the initial cost of drip installation. Air-injection is at least potentially applicable to the (SDI) system. However, the vertical stream of emitted air moving above the emitter outlet directly toward the surface creates a chimney effect, which should be avoided, and to ensure that there are adequate oxygen for root respiration.

In the traditional treatment, Ng, each tree received 500/600/400 g of NPK fertilizer at the beginning of February. Other fertilizer doses were applied in the irrigation water through a drip system. Irrigation water amount was calculated based on Class A-Pan evaporation. Wetted percentage in each irrigation was 30%.

In Iran, an arid and semiarid country, the distribution of precipitation is irregular and uneven, making the replenishment of reservoirs difficult during periods of scant rainfall. In this paper, a method has been devised to make available the maximum amount of water for irrigation, drinking, and the flow regime of Sofi Creek.
