The objectives of this research were to investigate the conception rate, proportion of calving, calving status, gestation length in Zebu crossbred cows artificially inseminated with Wagyu and Red Angus bull’s straw frozen semen, in Thai-Binh Province, from June 2019 - March 2021. Total of 236 Zebu crossbred cows were chosen, inseminated, and monitored for conception, pregnant status, calving, and gestation length.

This study was conducted to: (1) identify new SNPs for residual feed intake (RFI) and performance traits within candidate genes identified in a genome wide association study (GWAS); (2) estimate the proportion of variation in RFI explained by the detected SNPs; (3) estimate the effects of detected SNPs on carcass traits to avoid undesirable correlated effects on these economically important traits when selecting for feed efficiency; and (4) map the genes to biological mechanisms and pathways.

Good quality protein as an on-farm feed resource has been in great demand to support the productivity of ruminants. A digestion trial using beef cattle crossbreds was conducted to assess the four dietary treatments of Flemingia macrophylla silage (FMS) supplementation at 0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 kg dry matter (DM)/day in a 4 × 4 Latin square design.

Feed intake and body weight gain are economically important inputs and outputs of beef production systems. The purpose of this study was to discover differentially expressed genes that will be robust for feed intake and gain across a large segment of the cattle industry. Transcriptomic studies often suffer from issues with reproducibility and cross-validation. One way to improve reproducibility is by integrating multiple datasets via meta-analysis.

Theileria annulata is an important tick-borne haemoprotozoan organism affecting dairy animals worldwide including India. It causes enormous economic losses in cattle and buffaloes in terms of reduced milk production, increased infertility and high mortality rate. The present study was undertaken to estimate the various haematological changes in cattle infected with T. annulata.

Humpless Bos taurus cattle are one of the earliest domestic cattle in Africa, followed by the arrival of humped Bos indicus cattle. The diverse indigenous cattle breeds of Africa are derived from these migrations, with most appearing to be hybrids between Bos taurus and Bos indicus.

The present investigation was done for one year to record the prevalence of haemoparasite species in crossbred and domestic cattle along the four Indo-Bhutan border districts of Assam. Microscopic examination of blood smears from 533 cattle resulted in overall prevalence of 67.35% and detection of three species, viz.

The appraisal of thermo-adaptability among two calf breeds in the controlled environment was the objective of this study. The first group was Tharparkar and second one was crossbred (Hariana; 25 and 50% and Exotic; 50 and 75%) calves. The investigative period consists of 7 days acclimatization period, and 21 days of thermal exposure at control (25°C), moderate (31°C) and severe (37°C) heat stress (6 hrs. per day).

The present study was planned to evaluate the effect of supplementing non-enzymatic antioxidants as adjunct therapy in enhancing clinical recovery of cattle naturally infected with bovine tropical theileriosis. A total of 18 crossbred dairy cattle with the clinical signs consistent of bovine tropical theileriosis and confirmation by detection of piroplasm infected erythrocytes in blood smears, were randomly divided into 3 groups (A, B, C) of 6 animals each.

Effect of fenugreek seed supplementation on milk yield and its composition of crossbred dairy cattle
Effect of fenugreek seed supplementation on milk yield and its composition were studied using twelve crossbred dairy cattle. While six cows were supplemented with soaked fenugreek seed, the rest were treated as control. The study period comprises of 30 days of pre-supplementation, 60 days of supplementation and 30 days of post-supplementation periods.

Post influence of operation flood made India a leading global milk producer at the expense of decline in indigenous cattle population replaced by high milk producing exotic crossbred cattle. Recent times exotic crossbreds often suffer of mammary gland infection in compared to indigenous population results in economic loses and increased cost of production.

Crossbred dairy cattle milk production and milk fat depends mainly on feeding management with adequate availability of nutrients in their feed materials. It comprises the major protein supply for milk production. The demand of milk is increasing for nutrition of population in country. Presently, Azolla green fodder feeding is being considered essential for lactating dairy animals.

Secretion of prostaglandin F2α at the time of maternal recognition of pregnancy leads to embryonic loss. Early embryonic losses are one of the important causes of repeat breeding which increases the calving interval and leads to economic losses to farmers. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs inhibit the synthesis of PGF2α. The present study was designed to study the effect of treatment by GnRH analogue - Buserelin acetate, Progesterone (P4) and Tolfenamic acid on 32 repeat-breeding crossbred cattle aged 3-8 years.

Embryonic mortality (EM) is a major concern in the dairy industry across the world and it occurs due to loss of conceptus following fertilization until days 42-45 of pregnancy. The present study was carried out with the objective to detect EM in the crossbred cattle at the University Livestock Farm, Mannuthy, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University during the period from September 2017 to August 2019. Among the breedable animals inseminated at spontaneous oestrus, non-return animals (n=362) were selected for the study.
