The ductile behavior

Bioinspired structures are remarkable porous structures with great strengthto-weight ratios. Hence, they have been applied in various fields including biomedical, transportation, and aerospace materials, etc. Recent studies have shown the significant impact of the plastic 3D printed triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) structure on the cement beam including increasing the peak load, reducing the deflection, and improving the ductility.

The brittle fracture mode by cleavage is accounted for by Ritchie–Knott–Rice's deterministic maximum principal stress criterion (Ritchie et al., 1973). The wellknown problem of mesh dependence associated with softening material behavior is remedied by using an integral type nonlocal formulation similar to that presented in Tvergaard and Needleman (1995).

The results demonstrate that localization analyses are a cost-effective and reliable tool for predicting ductile failure, reducing the number of mechanical tests required to calibrate the MMC fracture model compared to the hybrid experimental-numerical approach usually applied.

The study of the mechanical behavior of sand concrete mixed with polypropylene (PP) fibers shows that with the incorporation of (PP) fibers into the cementitious matrix, there is some improvement in the ductile behavior of the composite. In our study we tested the composite with different dosages of polypropylene (0.05%, 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%).

Concrete filled tubes (CFTs) composite columns have many economical and esthetic advantages, but the behavior of their connections is complicated. Through this study, it is aimed to investigate the performance and behavior of different connection configurations between concrete filled steel tube columns and bracing diagonals through an experimental program. The study included 12 connection subassemblies consisting of a fixed length steel tube and gusset plate connected to the tube end with different details tested under half cyclic loading.

Since AA2060-T8 was introduced in the past few years, investigating the mechanical response, fracture mechanisms, and anisotropic behaviour of AA2060-T8 sheets under high strain rate deformation has been crucial. Thus, uniaxial tensile tests were performed under quasi-static, intermediate, and high strain rate conditions using universal testing machines as well as split Hopkinson tensile bars.

The simulated nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.5O2 exhibited a breakdown in the HallePetch relation with mean grain size varying from 3.0 nm to 18.0 nm. Moreover, the elastic modulus of U1-yThyO2 solid solutions with different content of thorium at 300 K was also studied and the results accorded well with the experimental data available in the literature. In addition, the fracture mode of nanocrystalline U0.5Th0.

The fracture to toughness ratio (bulk modulus/shear modulus) in sodium borohydride varied from 1.91 to 1.62, which shows its behavioral change from ductile to brittle on increasing the temperature. Then, ultrasonic Gruneisen ¨ parameters have been computed with the use of elastic constants in the temperature regime 100- 300K. The obtained results have been discussed in correlation with available experimental and theoretical results.

One of the most promising, generally applicable and well-adopted methods to enhance the surface performance of materials is the use of coatings. The reason is that it is extremely difficult and expensive to meet homogeneous materials having on their surface the ensemble of desired properties, such as high hardness, wear resistance, adequate stiffness, increased ductility, chemical inertness, stainlessness, controllable electrical and thermal conductivity behavior, etc.
