In this study, the objective was to employ experimental design in order to optimize the efficiency of diesel oil removal from water using activated carbon sourced from rambutan peel. A central composite design was utilized to investigate the impact of contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial oil concentration, and pH on both the removal efficiency and oil adsorption capacity across 30 different experimental designs.

In the current paper, the effect of central and edge cracks, therefore, has been studied in jointed plates at mid-height of SPSW. Results indicated that the central crack is more destructive than the edge crack. The central crack having a long initial length also makes a sudden wall fracture in the elastic zone and consequently cannot be used in high seismic regions.

In this work, chitosan with an amorphous structure and high surface area (increased 30 times higher than that of initial chitosan) was obtained from the decrystallization of chitosan using a reprecipitation method of chitosan from solution. The chitosan was characterized using X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET).

This study evaluated the adsorption capacity of hydrotalcite material (HT) for the removal of Mn2+in an aqueous solution. Factors affecting the adsorption capacity of HT for the removal of Mn2 ions from aqueous solutions, such as initial pH, contact time and initial Mn2 concentration, were investigated using batch experiments.

It is shown that the experimental failure loads are well predicted by means of both the UMTS-EMC and UMS-EMC criteria. Moreover, the experimental observations and the elastic-plastic finite element analyses indicate that the U-notched aluminum sheets fail by the large-scale yielding (LSY) regime.

Nitrogen percentage of the products were varied from 4.0% to 6.3%. Sorbents with predicted capacity of 4.5%, 5.0%, 6.3%, and 6.5% were synthesized. The results showed that the actual capacities of the products were close to the predictions, especially for those in the experimental domain, indicating a good model that can be used to prepare sorbents of any desired capacity.

This is the basis for the choice of soil treatment, irrigable water or the choice of plants with capacity of absorbing the desired metal to clean up arable land. Moreover, because it costs much money and time to handle soil, water in current conditions, we envisage the results of this kind of research will initially provide the basis for the selection of plant varieties suitable for the soil conditions and current pollution.

These results indicate that sol-gel processing is a promising method for preparing Ni-rich cathode materials. The sample prepared under the optimal conditions had a well ordered hexagonal layered structure. The charge–discharge tests showed that the initial capacities of the sample were 220.456 and 185.937 mAhg -1 at the discharge rate of 0.1 C between 3.0 and 4.3 V, respectively. The capacity retention ratio was 81.36 % at 1 C after 50 cycles.

The capacity of dendritic cells to initiate T cell responses is related to their ability to redistribute MHC class II mole-cules from the intracellular MHC class II compartments to the cell surface. This redistribution occurs during dendritic cell development as they are converted from an antigen capturing, immature dendritic cell into an MHC class II-peptide presenting mature dendritic cell. During this matu-ration, antigen uptake and processing are down-regulated and peptide-loaded class II complexes become expressed in a stable manner on the cell surface. ...

Erythropoietin levels in response to anemia. When the hemoglobin level falls to 120 g/L (12 g/dL), plasma erythropoietin levels increase logarithmically. In the presence of renal disease or chronic inflammation, EPO levels are typically lower than expected for a particular level of anemia. As individuals age, the level of EPO needed to sustain normal hemoglobin levels appears to increase. (From Hillman et al.

Mobile Satellite Communication∗ In principle communications satellites provide the same connectivity as terrestrial (wireless and wireline) networks. The advantages of satellites, such as fast wide-area coverage, flexible transmission parameters and cost independence due to distance, are compared with the disadvantages, such as restricted channel capacity because of the frequencies available, orbital positions, need for line-of-sight connectivity and high initial investment besides relatively long signal propagation times.
