Many patients with heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) have improved or restored left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Within context heart failure with recovered or improved ejection fraction (HFiEF) has been proposed as a new category of HF.

Cerebral infarction is normally caused by thrombosis in chronic cardiogenic patients. However, it may be an acute appearance after surgery because of thrombus formation in dammaged vascular. The left upper lobectomy is the highest risk factor for cerebral infarction among anatomical lung resection.

Metastases to the kidney from lung cancer are very rare and are usually therefore recognized at autopsy. A 71-year-old man visited the urology department due to symptoms of worsening hematuria. An abdominal computed tomography scan showed a right renal mass. After a nephrectomy, he was diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma, and further investigation showed small cell lung cancer in the central area of the left upper lobe with hepatic, bone and brain metastases.

Breast cancer is widely known as the most common cancer in women in the United States. If left untreated, it can have detrimental effects. If the breast cancer is aggressive in nature, it can metastasize to the lymph nodes, bones, liver, lungs, and brain. A rare location of metastasis is the leptomeninges, specifically the pia and arachnoid matter.

Radiotherapy using the deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) technique compared with free-breathing (FB) can achieve substantial reduction of heart and lung doses in left-sided breast cancer cases. The anatomical organ movement in deep inspiration also cause unintended exposure of locoregional lymph nodes to the irradiation field.

High tidal volume ventilation has shown to cause ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI), possibly contributing to concomitant extrapulmonary organ dysfunction. The present study examined whether left ventricular (LV) function is dependent on tidal volume size and whether this effect is augmented during lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced lung injury.

Double-lumen endobronchial tubes (DLTs) are commonly advanced into the mainstem bronchus either blindly or by fiberoptic bronchoscopic guidance. However, blind advancement may result in misplacement of left-sided DLTs into the right bronchus. Therefore, incidence, risk factors, and blind repositioning techniques for right bronchial misplacement of left-sided DLTs were investigated.

Double lumen tube (DLT) intubation is the most commonly used technique for one lung ventilation. Bronchial blockers (BB) are an alternative, especially for difficult airways. The EZ-bronchial blocker (EZB) is an innova‑ tive y-shaped and double-ended device of the BB family

There are several recent reports that left upper lobe lung resection is a risk factor for the development of postoperative thromboembolism. Although administering epidural analgesia is common in thoracic surgery, anesthesiologists should be alert when administering epidural analgesia to a patient undergoing left upper lobectomy, considering the increased risk of postoperative thromboembolism and the potential need for anticoagulation or fibrinolytic therapy in the immediate postoperative period.

As patients with left ventricular assist device (LVAD) have long expected survival, the incidence of noncardiac surgery in this patient population is increasing. Here, we present the anesthetic management of a patient with a continuous-flow LVAD who underwent video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS).

“Neurologist's contribution to the diagnosis of sine materia respiratory insufficiency: Case report”
Right-to-left shunt (RLS) may be the cause of marked hypoxemia, a respiratory insufficiency which is usually difficult to diagnose by respiratory physicians as it develops in the absence of an intrinsic lung disease.

Up to fifty percent of microbiologically cured tuberculosis (TB) patients may be left with permanent, moderate or severe pulmonary function impairment. Very few studies have systematically examined pulmonary outcomes in patients to understand the pathophysiologic basis and long-term socio-economic consequences of this injury.

Recently it has been revealed that lung adenocarcinomas with distinct gene mutations or fusions are associated with particular histopathological entities. For example, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutations are often associated with well differentiated adenocarcinoma of the lung with bronchioloalveolar pattern.

Lung transplantation (LTx) is still limited by the shortage of suitable donor lungs. Developing flexible surgical procedures can help to increase the chances of LTx by unfolding recipient-to-donor matching options based on the pre-existing organ allocation concept.

Approximately one third of all patients with CRC present with, or subsequently develop, colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). The objective of this population-based analysis was to assess the impact of resection of liver only, lung only and liver and lung metastases on survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and resected primary tumor.

The present study was conducted to investigate various micrometric parameters of bronchiole and bronchi in prenatal Gaddi sheep lung. A total of n=18 Gaddi sheep fetuses were collected from various slaughter houses in and around Palampur town for one year. The prenatal lung samples were divided into three groups which included group-I (0-50 days of gestation), group-II (50-100 days of gestation) and group-III (100-150 days of gestation) based on their age in days. The overall diameter of bronchiole increased from group-I to group-III.
