In this thesis, the limitations of using existing LTE congestion mitigation mechanisms such as Discard Timer and RED have been explored. A different mechanism to analyse the effects of using control theory for congestion mitigation has been developed. Finally, congestion mitigation in LTE networks has been addresses using radio resource allocation techniques with non-cooperative game theory being an underlying mathematical framework.

In this paper, we introduce the design of an LTE-R train control communication with a duplicated network structure. We propose two different network structures with fully-overlapping cell arrangement and with partly overlapping cell arrangement, respectively for the system and discuss major problems, including handover and inter-cell interference.

The results measured when doing a drive test are RSRP, SNR, and throughput parameters. The results of the RSRP parameter get 95% of the total sample RSRP values -100 dBm to 0 dBm. The SNR parameter gets 94% of the total sample which has a value of 0 dB to 25 dB.

The Wifi network with an average of -15 dBm. For LTE network throughput it has an average max. ping by 50.9 ms and min. ping is 864.5 ms, while WiFi networks have max average. ping by 24.3 ms and min. ping of 144.5 ms. From the results of these data show that the G5 Building has a good WiFi network and is superior to the LTE network.

The 5G wireless communication system is a new generation mobile communication system beyond 2020. 5GNow is still in the exploration stage. There are some shortcomings in LTE and LTE-A, such as strict synchronism, latency in crowded areas, energy consumption, and challenging in IoT, etc.

The interference is the most important problem in LTE or LTE-Advanced networks. In this paper, the interference was investigated in terms of the downlink signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR). In order to compare the different frequency reuse methods that were developed to enhance the SINR, it would be helpful to have a generalized expression to study the performance of the different methods. Therefore, this paper introduces general expressions for the SINR in homogeneous and in heterogeneous networks.

This paper investigates the problem of inter-cell interference (ICI) in Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile systems, which is one of the main problems that causes loss of packets between the base station and the mobile station. Recently, different frequency reuse methods, such as soft and fractional frequency reuse, have been introduced in order to mitigate this type of interference. In this paper, minimizing the packet loss between the base station and the mobile station is the main concern.

In this paper, we propose a solution for Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile network based on the concept of NDN. By OPNET Modeler simulation, we carry out the evaluation in realistic mobile network with a huge number of mobility LTE mobile stations access to a single server, where content names and content sizes are obtained from real trace of Internet traffic. The obtained results show that Evolved Packet Core (EPC) caching scheme can helps to further increases the quality of service as well as offloads server traffic significantly.

During the past years, there has been a quickly rising interest in radio access technologies for providing mobile as well as nomadic and fixed services for voice, video, and data. The difference in design, implementation, and use between telecom and datacom technologies is also getting more blurred.

Mobile network operators will meet many challenges in the coming years. It is expected that the number of people connected, wireline and wireless, will reach five billion by 2015. At the same time, people use more wireless services and they expect similar user experience to what they can now get from fixed networks. Because of that we will see a hundred-fold increase in network traffic in the near future. At the same time markets are saturating and the revenue per bit is dropping.

In the nineteenth century, scientists, mathematician, engineers and innovators started investigating electromagnetism. The theory that underpins wireless communications was formed by Maxwell. Early demonstrations took place by Hertz, Tesla and others. Marconi demonstrated the first wireless transmission. Since then, the range of applications has expanded at an immense rate, together with the underpinning technology. The rate of development has been incredible and today the level of technical and commercial maturity is very high.
