Diffuse midline glioma (DMG), H3 K27M-mutant is a type of diffuse high-grade glioma that occurs in the brain midline carrying an extremely poor prognosis under the best efforts of surgery, radiation, and other therapies. For better therapy, we explored the efficacy and toxicity of a novel therapy that combines apatinib and temozolomide in DMG.

This meeting was arranged at the same location where the ESPN was founded exactly seventeen years ago. Although the presentations in this meeting dealt with numerous important problems encountered in paediatric neurosurgery, the main emphasis was on that special problem which exemplifies the extraordinary advances in paediatric neurosurgery and its related fields.

In higher vertebrates the notochord is a transient rod-like structure in the midline of the embryo. In mouse embryos beginning at embryonic stage E8.5 the notochord arises as a distinct anatomical entity. Its anterior end is close to Radtke’s pouch from which it extends posteriorly to the tip of the tail.

Spinal anesthesia using the midline approach might be technically difficult in geriatric population. We hypothesized that pre-procedural ultrasound (US)-guided paramedian technique and pre-procedural US-guided midline technique would result in a different spinal anesthesia success rate at first attempt when compared with the conventional landmark-guided midline technique in elderly patients.

Previous studies have demonstrated that the common laryngoscopic approach (right-sided) and midline approach are both used for endotracheal intubation by direct laryngoscopy. Although the midline approach is commonly recommended for video laryngoscopy (VL) in the clinic, there is a lack of published evidences to support this practice.

NUT carcinoma (NC), previously known as NUT midline carcinoma, is a rare and very aggressive cancer that occurs in both children and adults. NC is largely chemoresistant, with an overall survival of less than 7 months. Because the carcinoma is not restricted to a particular organ, diagnosis is often a challenge.

Injury to the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve (IBSN) is common during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with a standard midline skin incision. Occasionally, painful neuromas form at the transection of nerve and cause pain and limitation of the range of motion of the knee joint.

Mammalian brain is formed through neural tube closure (NTC), wherein both ridges of opposing neural folds are fused in the midline and remodeled in the roof plate of the neural tube and overlying non-neural ectodermal layer. Apoptosis is widely observed from the beginning of NTC at the neural ridges and is crucial for the proper progression of NTC, but its role after the closure remains less clear.

A female Labrador retriever dog was presented to the clinics with signs of cough and respiratory distress, complain of swallowing of stone while playing. Radiography of the neck and thorax confirmed the presence of foreign body in the middle of the trachea. Tracheotomy was performed through ventral cervical midline incision and the foreign body (stone) removed from the trachea successfully.

Nuclear protein in testis (NUT) midline carcinoma is a rarely diagnosed and potentially underrecognized type of squamous carcinoma that is considered one of the most aggressive human solid tumors. Alpha-fetoprotein elevation has been associated with chronic liver diseases and a limited number of cancers.

Sacral chordoma is a locally aggressive malignant tumour originating from ectopic notochordal cells. The natural history of sacral chordoma is a slow growing tumour arising at the midline of the lower sacrum that can invade the sacrum and progressively increase in size expanding cranially and anteriorly.

An adult dog was presented to the clinics with the history of difficulty in passing the urine since 10 days. Physical examination revealed the signs of urinary tract obstruction. Catheterization of the bladder revealed obstruction at the level of os penis groove. The survey radiograph revealed presence of calculi in the os penis and curled radio-opaque material in the urinary bladder. The retrohydropulsion of urethra was successful in propelling the urethroliths into the bladder.

Comparative study of two different laparotomy techniques and post surgical complications for ovariohysterectomy in cats were studied. The animals were randomly divided into two equal (n = 6) groups, A and B. In group A, ovariohysterectomy was performed by ventral midline approach, where as in group B, ovariohysterectomy was performed by flank approach. The duration of surgery, length of surgical incision, cost of surgery, complications peri and post-operatively were compared. In cats subjected to ovariohysterectomy through lateral flank approach had minimal hemorrhage at incisional site.
