The normal ECG

The present study was undertaken to study the effects of intra-venous (i.v.) ethanol (25%, 50% and 100%) on Electrocardiogram of New Zealand White rabbits. Twelve healthy and clinically normal New Zealand White rabbits of either sex, weighing between 2-3 kg and aged between 1-2 years were selected for the present study. 1 ml of ethanol (25%, 50% and 100%) was injected i.v. in the ear vein of the rabbit and ECG recordings were taken for 50 minutes. Rabbits exhibited a significant decrease in heart rate following the injection of 25% and 50% ethanol and the heart rate remained significantly.

In this paper we present an adaptive filter for denoising the ECG signal based on Leaky Normalized Least Mean Square (LNLMS) algorithm. The adaptive filter essentially minimizes the mean squared error between a primary input, which is the noisy ECG, and a reference input, which is either noise that is correlated in some way with the noise in the primary input or a signal that is correlated only with ECG in the primary input.

This paper describes the experiment and evaluation of the efficiency of the proposed WLAN-based two-state ECG compression algorithm. ECG data used in this experiment was from an arrhythmia ECG database. The results of experiment were evaluated by comparing some parameters such as packet error rate-PER, signal throughput, percentage of RMS difference (PRD), PRD Normalized (PRDN) and time delay between compressed and uncompressed signals and showed that the two-state compression algorithm helped to improve efficacy in ECG signal- WLAN transmission.

The electrocardiogram (ECG), introduced into clinical practice more than 100 years ago by Einthoven, constitutes a lineal recording of the heart’s electrical activity that occurs successively over time. An atrial depolarisation wave (P wave), a ventricular depolarisation wave (QRS complex) and a ventricular repolarisation wave (T wave) are successively recorded for each cardiac cycle (Figures 1A–C).
