This paper investigates the impact of the pandemic on the Vietnamese stock market (VNX). Historically, pandemics have often caused major disruptions to the economies of many countries, and stock markets are quick to reflect these impacts. The pandemic has created major challenges for the VNX, even though Vietnam has successfully controlled the pandemic. This paper uses the Vector Autoregression (VAR) method to quantify the impact of on the VNX. The VAR model is used to analyze the dynamic interactions between time series variables.

This article contributes to the related literature in several ways. Firstly, the present study expands understanding by examining the dynamic co-movements between cryptocurrencies and green financial instruments within the context of sustainable finance. Prior studies have concentrated on traditional cryptocurrencies, which is consistent with increased environmental and financial concerns in the presence of particular and ambiguous shocks—that is, the pandemic and the Ukraine invasion.

This research project has been conducted amid a historic pandemic, and a particular gratitude goes to my partner Bella Reid and her family for providing extra support through unusual and uncertain times, without which this research would not have been as successful. Finally, I would to like to give my heartfelt appreciation to all my friends and family in Norway and Australia. No matter the physical distance I can always rely on their encouragement, care and constant source of support.

Following the 2009 H1N1 Influenza pandemic, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) emerged as a viable alternative in selected, severe cases of ARDS. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a major public health problem. Average medical costs for ARDS survivors on an annual basis are multiple times those dedicated to a healthy individual.

This article presents a critical assessment of these interventions, based on the regulatory theory and a review of international experiences. It shows how emergency measures should rely on a robust but flexible targeting strategy and be supported by appropriate financing; it also sheds light on the importance of information campaigns that allow the aid to reach more households, improving the effectiveness of the intervention.

By WHO forecasts, a further increase in the prevalence and mortality of COPD among people of working age is predicted, due to uncontrolled environmental pollution, a tobacco pandemic, an increase in the level of allergens and a genetic predisposition. In chronization and progression of COPD, there is a violation of cellular and humoral immunity, production of pro-inflammatory cytokines of phagocytic cell activity that contribute to the persistence of the inflammatory process in the lungs.

Persons who are ill will be asked to defer travel so as not to spread influenza to other areas that are pandemic free. Supply lines may also be affected by self-imposed travel restrictions, with truckers/transporters unwilling to travel through or to infected areas. Difficulties at border crossings may substantially affect supply lines. Consideration should be given to purchase of products made in Canada/locally to avoid potential supply problems due to border crossing restrictions implemented at the time of the pandemic.

The struggle of man against his unseen and silent enemies, the lower or bacterial forms of life, once one becomes alive to it, has an irresistible fascination. More dramatic than any novel, more sombre and terrifying than a battle fought in the dark, would be the intimate picture of the battle of our bodies against the hosts of disease.

The negative health impact of many large-scale public health emergencies, such as an intentional anthrax release, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), or the recent 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, can be mitigated significantly by medical countermeasures such as antimicrobials, antivirals, and vaccines. To be effective, these countermeasures generally must be delivered in very large quantities in a short period of time.

The tombstone, dated 1437, stands in the churchyard of St. John’s Church in Nuremberg, Germany. The inscription on it hints at a terrible tragedy that has taken place there: Was that not sad and painful to relate, I died with thirteen of my family on the same date? Such was the effect of a devastating pestilence that had swept through not only the city of Nuremberg but almost all of Europe and much of Asia as well, starting a hundred years earlier.

In the century past, we have experienced influenza pandemics three times: as recently as 1968 and 1957 and what has been called the Great Influenza in 1918, a pandemic that killed 40-50 million people worldwide. At some point in our nation’s future another virus will emerge with the potential to create a global disease outbreak. History teaches us that everything we do today to prepare for that eventuality will have many lasting benefits for the future. We will realize important advances in healthcare, and we will be better prepared for other types of emergencies.

Women were among the first documented cases of AIDS (Corea, 1992; Shilts, 1987), and have continued to become infected, develop AIDS, and die, throughout the course of this pandemic. Women have consistently constituted more than half of those infected with HIV globally, while in the United States their representation among those struck by AIDS has been increasing dramatically in recent years; more new infections occur among women than men at the present time.

A pandemic is a global disease outbreak. A flu pa demic occurs when a new influenza virus emerge for which people have little or no immunity, and f which there is no vaccine. The disease spreads ea ily person-to-person, causes serious illness, and can sweep across the country and around the world in a very short time. It is difficult to predict when the next influenza pandemic will occur or how severe it will be. Wherever and whenever a pandemic starts, every one around the world is at risk.
