The present paper is an attempt to look into the conditions of the migrant workers in the garment industry in Ernakulam city after the floods. The resettlement and rehabilitation efforts of the Government post flood scenario and the new schemes that would help them to cope with any future calamities have also been examined in detail.

The study focused on analyzing the impacts of labor migration process on the structural change of the rural labor in Trieu Son District, Thanh Hoa province in Vietnam. With regard to the quantitative and qualitative methods, the study used the survey data from the research “The changes of rural labor composition under the impacts of current labor migration in 2018: A case study in Trieu Son District, Thanh Hoa province in Vietnam”.

Protestants account for the majority of the Mong (or H’mong) people migrating from Northern Vietnamese provinces to Dak Lak province in the Central Highlands. Attention has been paid by the State management agencies and researchers to the studies on the religion of Protestantism in general and its practice among the Mong people in particular. Many Mong people have followed the religion because they consider it to be more positive than the ethnic group’s traditional one, which includes many costly rituals and backward customs that are not appropriate to the modern life.

With a population of over 90 million, Vietnam is one of the most populous countries in the world, and a great potential for the workforce. The paper analyzes the correlation of population rapid growth and a part of Vietnam territory may be reduced due to sea level rise, which could lead labor forces to migrate, possibly towards Russia, Europe - the region has a long history in receiving the Vietnamese migrants. Suggestions are also made for Vietnam to cope with global climate change.

The paper describes the needs, challenges and vulnerabilities of Vietnamese international migrant workers (IMWs), with an emphasis on the violations and abuses of their human rights within global and ASEAN contexts from gender and human rights perspectives, as well as the benefits and the opportunities for IMWs in terms of their financial situation, their contribution, and professional and personal development. The paper argues that the country needs to shift from supplying cheap low-skilled manpower to more regionally and globally competitive and skilled manpower.
