The bioassay was carried out in the laboratory at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Lam, Guntur at normal room temperature and humidity conditions during 2016-17. The commonly used neonicotinoid insecticides viz., imidacloprid 17.8 SL, acetamiprid 20 SP, thiamethoxam 25 WG and two organophosphate insecticides viz., acephate 75 SP and monocrotophos 36 SL were selected as test insecticides.

The study was carried out to evaluate some insecticides against pod bug, Clavigralla gibbosa Spinola in pigeonpea during kharif 2017-18 at Agricultural Research Station, Kalaburagi, Karnataka, India under field conditions with nine treatments and three replications. The flonicamid 50 WG recorded significantly lowest population of 0.67 bugs per plant while the bug population in acephate 75 SP and thiamethoxam 25 WG was 0.87 and 1.00 bug/plant, respectively and all the three were statistically on par.

The relative toxicity of different insecticides against adult of Propylea sp. showed that novaluron 10 EC 0.0075 per cent was slightly harmful to adults of Propylea sp. While, other remaining insecticides proved to be harmless to adult viz. thiamethoxam 25 WG 0.005 per cent, acetamiprid 20 SP 0.004 per cent, flonicamid 50 WG 0.0075 per cent, clothianidin 50 WDG 0.003 per cent, diafenthiuron 50 WP 0.04 per cent, imidacloprid 17.8 SL 0.005 per cent, spinosad 45 SC 0.02 per cent. A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of insecticides and bio pesticides against sucking insect pests on Bt cotton at College of Agriculture, Vijayapur during kharif-2016-17. The results revealed that the treatment flonicamid 50 WG was observed as significantly superior insecticide in minimizing the thrips population followed by fipronil 5 SC, acetamiprid 20 SP, dinotefuron 20 SG, diafenthiuron 50 WP and thiamethoxam 25 WG.

An experiment was conducted to assess the bio-efficacy of Carbofuran 3% CG against whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) on tomato during late kharif season of 2013-14 at Agricultural Research Station, Hagari near Ballari in Karnataka. The treatments were imposed at three different test doses along with market standard (Carbofuran 3% G), standard check (Thiamethoxam 25% WG) and untreated control. Phyto-toxicity evaluation was also done for the new chemical formulation.
