The swine farming has a significant potential for biogas emissions and is a substantial contributor to greenhouse gas emissions within Vietnam's agricultural sector. This study was conducted to determine the total amount of CH4, and CO2 (eq) released from mature management activities and emission coefficients of CH4 and CO2 (eq) at different swine farms in Northern, Central and Southern regions, using tier 1 and tier 2 according to IPCC method.

In Vietnam, SMEDI syndrome in sows caused by PPV is nationwide and has been of concern since the early 1990s. Previous studies have investigated the prevalence of PPVs using serological testing and PCR methods. The objective of this study is to analyze the genotypic prevalence of PPVs and molecular characterization of VP gene of PPV2 from slaughtered pigs in Central Vietnam.

This study measured production efficiency considering environmental factors (environmental efficiency) to assess the sustainability of pig farms in the district. This study used the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model with undesirable output (COD emissions) to measure environmental efficiency in pig production.

This study was conducted to compare the genetic gain per sow per year of Duroc pigs in twelve scenarios. These scenarios were based on the number of traits used such as average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), intramuscular fat content (IMF) and were also based on the number of records of phenotype for these traits from the individual animal and its relatives.

Ebook "Zygotic genome activation: Methods and protocols" provides an overview of zygotic genome activation (ZGA) and the use of recent tools to elucidate the events that occur during ZGA. The chapters in this book cover topics such as: clearance of maternal RNAs, detection of miRNA in mammalian oocytes and embryos, RNA FISH to study ZGA in early mouse embryos, and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene targeting during embryogenesis in the mouse and pig.

This study aimed to diagnose swine dysentery (SD) caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae in pigs by the PCR method in Vietnam. Of the 250 samples, 29 isolates of B. hyodysenteriae (11.60%) were identified by PCR in seven provinces of Northern Vietnam, and the infection rate differed from region to region.

In nitrogen treatment with biological methods, nitrite metabolism is an intermediate process that facilitates other processes involving different bacteria strains. In this study, we isolated two nitriteoxidising bacteria strains from abattoir wastewater and wastewater from biogas tanks of an industrial pig farm in Ha Tinh province.

Consequences of splitting whole-genome sequencing effort over multiple breeds on imputation accuracy
The aim of this study was to determine the consequences of splitting sequencing effort over multiple breeds for imputation accuracy from a high-density SNP chip towards whole-genome sequence. Such information would assist for instance numerical smaller cattle breeds, but also pig and chicken breeders, who have to choose wisely how to spend their sequencing efforts over all the breeds or lines they evaluate.

Intramuscular fat (IMF) content is an important factor in porcine meat quality. Previously, we showed that miR-34a was less abundant in liver tissue from pigs with higher backfat thickness, compared to pigs with lower backfat thickness. The purpose of this present study was to explore the role of miR-34a in adipogenesis.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the pathogen of porcine circovirus associated diseases (PCVAD) and one of the main pathogens in the global pig industry, which has brought huge economic losses to the pig industry. In recent years, there has been limited research on the prevalence of PCV2 in Henan Province. This study investigated the genotype and evolution of PCV2 in this area.
