"Standard Specification for Steel Sheet, Terne (Lead-Tin Alloy) Coated by the Hot-Dip Process" covers sheet steel in coils and cut lengths coated with lead-tin alloy by the hot-dip process. This material is commonly known as terne and is used where ease of solderability and a degree of corrosion resistance are desirable. It is especially suitable where resistance to gasoline is required. Terne-coated sheet is also used for stamping, where the coating acts as a lubricant in the die, lessening difficulties in drawing.

Pristine and WO3 decorated TiO2 nanorods (NRs) were synthesised to investigate n-n-type heterojunction gas sensing properties. TiO2 NRs were fabricated via hydrothermal method on fluorine-doped tin oxide coated glass (FTO) substrates. Then, tungsten was sputtered on the TiO2 NRs and thermally oxidised to obtain WO3 nanoparticles. The present study demonstrated that TiN-coated implants showed less P. gingivalis surface adhesion and less bone resorption induced by P. gingivalis. In addition, the bone implant contact ratio of TiN-coated implants showed the highest percentage, with significant differences compared to machined, sandblasted, acid-etched, and radiofrequency magnetron sputter hydroxyapatite-coated surface modifications, even with P. gingivalis infection. This was the first report to demonstrate that TiN-coated implants were excellent for inducing osseointegration and inhibiting P.

The results analysis shows that the feed rate has the most effect on the surface quality. The effect of coating layers on the surface quality is also studied. It is observed that a lower surface roughness is obtained when using PVD (TiCN-TiN) coated insert when compared with uncoated tool. The values of root mean square deviation and coefficient of correlation between the theoretical and experimental data are also given in this work where the maximum calculated error is 2.65 %.

Silicon carbide (SiC) particulate impregnated Al 7075 matrix composite was fabricated by stir casting method and then heat treated to T6 condition. It was then machined with multiple layer of TiN coated tungsten carbide (WC) inserts in dry environment and pollution free Spray Impingement Cooling (SIC) environment to compare the machining performance. SIC environment presented better machining performance with respect to cutting tool temperature (T), average roughness of the machined surface (Ra) and tool flank wear (VBc).
