Epigenetic phenomena are crucial for explaining the phenotypic plasticity seen in the cells of different tissues, developmental stages and diseases, all holding the same DNA sequence. As technology is allowing to retrieve epigenetic information in a genome-wide fashion, massive epigenomic datasets are being accumulated in public repositories. New approaches are required to mine those data to extract useful knowledge.

A four years old Golden Retriever bitch was presented for the treatment following complaint of protrusion of oedematous tissue through the vulva lip. Clinical examination revealed a pear shaped pendulous mass was hanging from the vaginal wall. The treatment involved application of antiseptic gel and amputation of the protruded mass. The bitch had completely recovered after the surgery with no recurrence of prolapsed at next season.

A Labrador Retriever bitch of four years old was presented with the history of gradually increase in the size of mass at extra-luminal paravaginal region since one year. On palpation, the mass was soft, fluctuating and drooping from supra-vaginal region. The dog was exhibiting clinical symptoms like vaginal bleeding, dysuria, licking of mass and discomfort. Microscopically, the lesional tissue revealed squamous cell proliferation with acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and horny epidermal cells with pseudo cystic inclusions of keratinized material and adipocytes, suggestive of lipoma.

Human trophoblast invasion and differentiation are essential for successful pregnancy outcome. The molecular mechanisms, however, are poorly understood. Interleukin (IL)-11, a cytokine, regulates endometrial epithelial cell adhesion. Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is one of the key cytokines in the embryo implantation regulation. The present study aimed to assess the levels of LIF, IL-11, and IL-11 a receptor gene expression in the endometrium of women undergoing IVF and correlate their levels with the IVF pregnancy outcome.

Genomic and cDNA sequences coding for a fatty acid-binding protein (FABP) in zebrafish were retrieved from DNA sequence databases. The cDNA codes for a protein of 14.7 kDa (pI= 5.94), and the gene consists of four exons, properties characteristic of most vertebrate FABP genes. Phylogenetic analyses using vertebrate FABPs indicated that this protein is most similar to zebrafish Fabp10.

A Carpentier annuloplasty ring was sutured. With the ring in position, the chordae were retrieved from the ventricle, and both needles were woven into the prolapsing segment, straddling the point of maximal prolapse. Two or three bites were taken through the coaptation surface to the line of coaptation. The two arms of the suture were tied on the atrial surface with a slip-knot to bring the leaflet to the annular plane, and a clip was placed across the knot. Pericardial pledgets could be used if the leaflet tissue seems fragile.
