The private seed producing companies and public institutes have released many varieties and hybrids with particular characteristics like high yielding, enhanced fruit quality, tolerance to biotic and abiotic stress etc. But we may not have all these characters in a single variety or hybrids, so, we can go for grafting where the best characters of both scion and rootstock could efficiently utilized. The selection of particular rootstock and scion material depends on purpose of grafting, environmental conditions and objective of experiment.

Standard heterosis over one check (DVRT-1) was experimented with thirty hybrids of tomato. Most of these hybrids proved to have unique variation for growth and yield traits in tomato. Standard heterosis over check for total yield/plant was recorded 99.76 %.

Phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficient studies were carried out in recombinant inbred line population of Vaibhav x Anaga cross for yield and quality characters. The association studies showed that fruit yield/plant (kg) has positive correlation with plant height (cm), Average fruit weight (g), number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant, total soluble solids and number of locules/fruit at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.
