An experiment was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design with an aim to investigate the effect of short term waterlogging on four popular Khariftomato cultivars of Odisha (Utkal Pallavi, Utkal Dipti, Utkal Kumari and Utkal Pragyan). 45 days old tomato plants were subjected to 15 cm of stagnant water for a period of 0,1,2 and 3 days. High survivability under 1 and 2 days of waterlogging were recorded in U.Kumari of about 80%and 60% respectively because of high adventitious root formation, whereas all the plants died under 3 days of waterlogging due to root hypoxia.

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) is one of the most important vegetable crops of the family Solanaceae. Survey for prevalence and severity of late blight of tomato was conducted in three vegetable growing districts of Kashmir valley viz. Anantnag, Baramulla and Budgam. Maximum disease incidence (10.24%), intensity (3.79%) and infected fruits (4.06%) were observed in district Anantnag, followed by district Budgam with 9.67% disease incidence, 3.14% disease intensity and 3.50% infected fruits and the least disease incidence (09.33%), disease intensity (3.04%) and infected fruits (3.

Tomato is widely consumed vegetable in the world. It is used as raw and processed form. Tomato flowers are self as well as controlled pollinated. The crop has more than thirteen species including cultivated and wild types with huge diversity and is susceptible to diverse stress conditions. Recent advances in the biotic and abiotic stress in tomato transcriptomics have been reviewed here. Transcriptome is a particular set of RNA expressed during a stress, developmental stages or a condition in a group of cells.

Crop water Requirement (CWR) is the key to design a suitable irrigation system for a particular crop. In this paper CWR of major vegetable crops for six agro-climatic zones of Madhya Pradesh is estimated on the basis of Reference Evapotranspiration. The study is performed for major vegetable crops namely tomato, onion, pea, brinjal, potato and okra. The crop water requirement found to vary with stages of the crop growth and the reference evapotranspiration.

The use of industrial waste water for irrigation through drip system has emerged a very important way to utilize its nutrients and removal of its pollutants load by cultivating various crops (tomato, brinjal). An experiment was conducted to evaluate the impact of textile factory effluents (0, 10, 35, 75 and 100% concentration) on germination and some physiological parameters like biomass production, root development in vegetable crop. Plants were raised in small pots in triplicate and irrigated with various concentrations (0, 10, 35, 75 and 100%) of effluent.

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) is the world’s largest vegetable crop after potato and sweet potato, belongs to family Solanaceae. It was universally treated as ―protective food‖ because of its special nutritive value. Fusarium wilt of tomato is one of the most devastating diseases, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici. It is a soil borne pathogen which causes serious loss in tomato production and attacks plants through roots at all stages of plant growth.

Tomato is one of the most popular and widely grown vegetables in the world which ranks next to potato. Although tomato is generally grown under irrigated conditions, its cultivation as a rainfed crop has gained importance particularly in semi-arid regions. It has been established that stress due to water deficit is a very important limiting factor at the initial phase of plant growth and establishment. Studies on physiological evaluation of tomato genotypes is limiting in the drought stress condition.
