An investigation was undertaken during 2016-2018 to study the variations in biochemical properties among 24 jackfruit accessions of Assam. The biochemical parameters of the jackfruit pulp like TSS, reducing sugar, nonreducing sugar, total sugar, ascorbic acid and crude fibre showed significant variation among the accessions studied.

A study was conducted to investigate the chemical and mineral composition of cultivars belonging to four different genomic groups. Results revealed that B genome rich cultivar, Karpuravalli (ABB), had higher dry matter and starch, less moisture, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, total and reducing sugars, when compared with A genome rich cultivar, Robusta (AAA) and Poovan (AAB). Similarly cultivars with B genome had higher nitrogen, lesser calcium, potassium, zinc and iron, while mixed influence was noticed with regard to minerals like phosphorus and magnesium.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics in croplands is a crucial component of global carbon (C) cycle. Depending on local environmental conditions and management practices, typical C input is generally required to reduce or reverse C loss in agricultural soils. Changes in the soil organic carbon (SOC) stock are determined by the balance between the carbon input from organic materials and the output from the decomposition of soil C. The fate of SOC in cropland soils plays a significant role in both sustainable agricultural production and climate change mitigation.

Considering nutraceutical potentiality of phytochemicals, a few indigenous red rice germplsams of Assam, India were analysed for various phytochemicals, antioxidant activities and a few mineral contents. Among the sixteen germplasm analysed in their brown form, the total phenol content, total flavonoid content, and the anthocyanin content per100 gm dry matter ranged from752.89 mg±18.12 (‘Ranga Dariya’) to 2223 mg±33.48 (‘Amana Bao’), 252.12±15.40mg (‘Ixojoy’) to 1000.75±86.93mg (‘Dal Bao’) and 76.05± 0.32 µg (‘Kolaguni’) to159.42±15.97 µg (‘Betu’), respectively.

A study was carried out to investigate the comparative study of soil nutrient status such as soil chemical properties in different forest types of Dharmapuri forest circle of Tamil Nadu. Totally forty soil samples were collected from three forest types viz., Tropical dry deciduous forest, Tropical dry evergreen forest and Tropical dry thorn forest.
