The quantitative assays of total polyphenols revealed a richness of the different pomegranate extract in polyphenols, peel and seed ethanol extracts contain the highest values (880.06 ± 11.2 mg GAE/100 g and 1160.1 ± 45.20 mg GAE/100 g, respectively). Flavonoid contents were high in both of acetone, ethanol extracts of peel, followed by ethanol, and acetone extracts of juice.

In present study Vitex negundo leave’s extract was used to assess the antibacterial activity on cotton fabric. Extraction of phytochemicals was carried out using different solvents like ethanol and aqueous. Total phenolic content (TPC) results revealed that TPC of Vitex negundo leave’s extract were highest in case of ethanolic extraction as compared to aqueous. It was observed that mild to moderate antibacterial properties were present in ethanolic extract as compared to aqueous extract. Clear zone of inhibition was observed on cotton fabric against E coli and S. aureus.

Plants have been known to be a reservoir of secondary metabolites which are being exploited as source of bioactive substance for various pharmacological purposes. In the present study, fresh leaf extracts of hibiscus were prepared using ethanol, methanol and distilled water. The extracts were assessed for the presence of various classes of phytochemicals by subjecting to different tests and total phenolic content of each extract was carried out using FCR method. Results revealed that all the extracts of hibiscus contained alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins.

Effect of lemongrass extract and oil on the bioactivity (antioxidant and antimicrobial property) and citral content of paneer was evaluated in this study. Lemongrass was incorporated in the following three ways: i) cut and crushed leaves were added to milk @ 0, 2, 4 and 6% (w/v) or to coagulant solution @ 20% (w/v) and extracted by heat treatment; ii) cut leaves were heat extracted in potable water followed by heat concentration, and chilling. The chilled water was used for soaking paneer blocks; iii) Lemongrass oil added to milk at 0, 0.015, 0.02 and 0.025% levels.

This in-vitro study evaluates the antibacterial &antifungal action of aqueous & alcoholic extracts of new herbal vaginal formulation containing equal amounts of Symplocos racemosa Roxb. and Ficus glomerata Roxb. stem barks against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and candid fungus by using the methods of zone of inhibition and minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) to assess its efficacy in treating vaginitis. During phytochemical analysis, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins and carbohydrates were found to be present in both extracts.

Multidrug-resistant bacterial strains are becoming a serious problem. Therefore, the application of natural antimicrobial agents from plant extracts combined with antibiotics to overcome this problem is of major importance. The antimicrobial activity of five plants (Rosemary, Marjoram, Mint, Dill and Neem) methanol extract prepared by ultrasonicassisted (UAE) combined with antibiotics (amoxicillin, doxycycline, gentamicin and difloxacin) against 41 Salmonella poultry isolates was tested using in vitro methods.
