This study aims to explore the transmission of pollutants from the domestic wastewater of the Rach Tram - Phu Quoc eco-urban project. To achieve this, the Ecolab module of the Mike model is employed. The dispersion of pollutants is influenced by both hydraulic and wind conditions. Notably, under southwest wind condition, the dispersion of pollutants is considerably more pronounced compared to that observed during the Northeast monsoon.

Dredging plays a crucial role in port management, but disposing dredged material in the ocean raises environmental concerns. In recent years, this practice has become more prevalent in Vietnam. This study examined the dispersion of total suspended solids (TSS) in seawater from the submersion of dredged material in Vung Ang Port, northern Vietnam, to evaluate the environmental impact.

The objectives of this study were to prove the control of the lake water quality in terms of turbidity, total suspended solid (TSS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and number of the algal cells by using the Riplox-based chemical complex (including (Ca(NO3)2) and (FeCl3) at concentrations ranging from 5 mM to 50 mM, with the presence of CuSO4 4 mg/L), considering the effects of the chemical fraction, the chemical concentration, and the treatment time.

In this study, a co-digestion pilot scale study of a mixture of domestic wastewater and the organic fraction of food waste using an anaerobic membrane bioreactor was developed. The results show that the removal efficiencies of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) were high and reached more than 90%.

Water Quality Index (WQI) is a single dimensional number that aggregates information from many water quality parameters according to a defined method. WQI is accepted as an efficient tool for water quality management. In this study, WQI of Saigon river for public water supply was calculated from nine water quality parameters including pH, suspended solids (SS), dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, total dissolved iron and total coliform based on water quality data obtained monthly from January 2016 to December 2019 at three sampling sites.

One of the easiest and efficient way of water conservation to solve drinking water scarcity is rooftop water harvesting. However, the technology has some limitations with regard to its purification system. The commonly used sand and gravel filter is very prone to clogging and its cleaning is not an easy job. At the same time, the alternative upward flow mesh filter needs further improvement in cleaning efficiency and some hassle free drain cum back washing mechanism. In upward flow mesh filter system, which creates anaerobic condition will give foul smell.

The study was conducted to understand the ground water quality by using different irrigation water suitability indices in Guntur channel command area for drinking and irrigation purpose. Total twenty five ground water samples were collected during post and pre-monsoon season. Physicochemical parameters like pH, electrical conductivity, calcium, magnesium, carbonates, bicarbonates, sodium, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids were analysed using standard procedures. The values obtained were compared with the standards of BIS and WHO.

Constructed wetlands (CWs) have been used to treat various types of wastewaters such as urban runoff, acid mine drainage, municipal, industrial, and livestock wastewaters. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of two constructed wetlands (surface and horizontal subsurface flows) for piggery wastewater treatment after biogas process. The wetland plant Phragmites australis Cav. was used in two CWs. The flow rate of the CWs was 100 liters/day with the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 3 days.

Quantification of material flows and energy balance in production lines as well as in waste management systems and illustrative presentation of the flows are useful tools for decision making in both cleaner production and pollution control. In this study, using STAN software, the authors have analyzed the material flows, and, using SANKEY software, the authors have analyzed the energy balance of the main production lines and the wastewater management system of a selected textile company in Vietnam.

Day by day the global environmental pollution is becoming one of the major problems. Dairy is one of the major agricultural industry components. The dairy industry effluent without any treatment plays significant risk for public health and environmental pollution mostly in developing countries because all milk is processed industrially.

Performance of a vertical subsurface flow constructed wetland under different operational conditions
The performance of a vertical subsurface flow constructed wetland (VSSFCW) for sewage effluent treatment was studied in an eight month experiment under different operational conditions including: vegetation (the presence or absence of common reeds ‘‘Phragmites australis”), media type (gravel or vermiculite), and mode of sewage feeding (continuous or batch). Plants had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on the removal efficiency and mass removal rate of all pollutants, except phosphorous.

Pollution control policy is fundamental for our analysis. In 1982 the central government imposed a system of levies on air pollutants, on total wastewater, and on the concentrations of three pollutants contained in wastewater: total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand, and other solids. The first two are characteristic of the paper industry. The levy rates were reassessed in 1989 and increased in 1992. Wang et al. (1996) examined the effect of these charges on the effluents on the general manufacturing sector. They found the expected emission-reducing effect.

The Total Suspended Solids (TSS) standard identified in the USEPA Cluster Rules for New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) is the benchmark for existing mills, as Alberta mills currently apply the technology required to achieve this standard. This was based on a review of the current performance values for Alberta mills, other Canadian mills, top performing mills in the U.S., and allows for sufficient flexibility for plant operations during shutdown, start-up and upset conditions. Alberta’s standards for TSS are a monthly average of 4.0 kg/ADt and daily maximum of 8.
