The present study was conducted to inspect the effect of Grewia optiva Drummond based traditional agrisilviculture system on productivity of Vigna mungo. The crown spread of trees and distance from tree trunk was considered for quantifying effect of integration on the crop growth and production. Radial transects at right angle to each other were drawn for studying various growth and yield parameters at 1m, half the crown radius, perimeter of crown radius and outside the canopy (control) by plotting quadrat of 1×1 m2.

Land is a non-renewable natural resource and centre to all crop production systems. Due to increasing population, per capita land availability decreases, but increasing aspirations of the people make it important to get greater returns from land per unit of land. To achieve the maximum and sustainable return, agroforestry provides security to improve the economic status and livelihood with traditional agriculture. To study the present land use scenario in Nalanda district of Bihar, a field study was conducted through questionnaire survey among 140 families in 75 percent blocks of the district.

The purpose of this study is to quantify the floristic diversity in forests and coffee agroforests and to know the effects of different landholding sizes in Kodagu district of India's the Western Ghats. We collected the data on trees, shrubs and herbs from 50 sample plots of 0.16 ha. each and analyzed for various diversity parameters. Results revealed Shannon’s (H') was highest in coffee agroforests (3.60) compared to that of natural forest (3.32). Conversely, Simpson’s (D) values did not differ between the land-use types.

The pricing system used in this occasion describes how much money a smallholder earns from selling the trees from one rai. In case of a high latex- yielding clone the farmer can sell the wood for average price of BHT 50 000 from one rai. If the smallholder has been harvesting a clone combining high latex yield and high wood yield, he can get as much as BHT 70 000 per rai. The yield per hectare is in average 138,9 m3 , but due to inaccessibility of plantation areas only 75 % of available logs will reach the sawmills in...

Recently, the public sector has began to recognize the potential opportunities offered by ICT and e-business models to fit with citizens’ demands, to offer better services to citizens and to increase efficiency by streamlining internal processes. Tapscott and Caston (1993) argue that ICT causes a “paradigm shift” introducing “the age of network intelligence”, reinventing businesses, governments and individuals. Paradigm shifts prevail in the public sector too.

Without access to basic financial services, Africans are at risk of remaining at the margins of economic opportunity with little hope of realizing their tremendous creative potential. In the past, most poor Africans relied on home- grown, often unreliable and exploitative traditional services in the form of deposit collectors and moneylenders. Now microfinance is a big part of the picture.

The dehesa is an ancient agrosilvopastoral system created by farmers to raise livestock, mainly on private lands. This system is highly appreciated by society and enjoys legal protection of the authorities because it is rich in biodiversity, a home to critically endangered species (Iberian lynx, imperial eagle and black vulture); a significant carbon sink; ethnologically and anthropologically valuable (culture and traditions); and is known for its scenic value.
