Prime editing is a novel and universal CRISPR/Cas-derived precision genome-editing technology that has been recently developed. However, low efficiency of prime editing has been shown in transgenic rice lines. We hypothesize that enhancing pegRNA expression could improve prime-editing efficiency.

We have previously developed a rice-based oral vaccine against cholera diarrhea, MucoRice-CTB. Using Agrobacterium-mediated co-transformation, we produced the selection marker–free MucoRice-CTB line 51A, which has three copies of the cholera toxin B subunit (CTB) gene and two copies of an RNAi cassette inserted into the rice genome.

Rice (Oryza sativa) productivity is adversely impacted by numerous biotic and abiotic factors. An approximate 52% of the global production of rice is lost annually owing to the damage caused by biotic factors, of which ~21% is attributed to the attack of insect pests. We have developed transgenic pyramided rice lines, endowed with enhanced resistance to major sap sucking insects, through sexual crosses made between two stable transgenic rice lines containing Allium sativum (ASAL) and Galanthus nivalis (GNA) lectin genes.

Isocitrate lyase (ICL) is a key enzyme in the glyoxylate cycle. In a previous study in rice, the expression of the ICL-encoding gene (OsICL) was highly induced by salt stress and its expression was enhanced in transgenic rice lines overexpressing OsCam1–1, a calmodulin (CaM)-encoding gene.

Two drought-tolerant transgenic rice lines, L-8 (single copy) and L-23 (two copy), expressing the Capsicum annuum methionine sulfoxide reductase B2 (CaMsrB2) gene were selected for stress tolerance phenotyping under drought stress conditions.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2 ) is known to be a key player in apoptosis in ani-mals. The components and pathways regulating H2O2-induced programmed cell death in plants, however, remain largely unknown. In the present study, rice transgenic lines overexpressing Bcl-2, a human apoptotic sup-pressor, were obtained.
