  • This paper proposes a smart routing-transmission protocol and the use of wavelet transform to deliver images fast and reliably on a sink-originating tree topology. In this approach, the source multimedia node utilizes the wavelet transform to compress the captured image, segments the image, and forwards all segments along the data path.

  • In this paper, an area-efficient low power Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) processor is proposed for Multi Input Multi Output—Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) that consists of a modified architecture of radix-2 algorithm which is described as Radix-2 multipath delay commutation (R2MDC). Orthogonal frequencydivision multiplexing is a popular method for high-data-rate wireless transmission.

  • Despite expanded programs for prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT), HIV-infected infants may not be diagnosed until they are ill. Comparing HIV prevalence and outcomes in infants diagnosed in PMTCT programs to those in hospital settings may improve pediatric HIV diagnosis strategies.

  • It is important in data communication settings to be able to characterise the delay that individual packets are subjected to in their sojourn through the system. Delays can be traced to four main causes: Processing delay, propagation delay, transmission delay, queueing delay.

  • This paper propose a PHY-MAC crosslayer cooperative protocol which can support PNC for multi-rate cooperative wireless networks with bidirectional traffic. The design objective of the proposed protocol is to increase the transmission reliability, throughput, and energy efficiency, as well as to reduce the transmission delay.

  • This paper describes the experiment and evaluation of the efficiency of the proposed WLAN-based two-state ECG compression algorithm. ECG data used in this experiment was from an arrhythmia ECG database. The results of experiment were evaluated by comparing some parameters such as packet error rate-PER, signal throughput, percentage of RMS difference (PRD), PRD Normalized (PRDN) and time delay between compressed and uncompressed signals and showed that the two-state compression algorithm helped to improve efficacy in ECG signal- WLAN transmission.

  • Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) is a probabilisticMedia Access Control (MAC) protocol in which a node verifies the absence of other traffic before transmitting on a shared transmission medium CAN uses a nondestructive bitwise arbitration, which means that messages remain intact after arbitration is completed even if collisions are detected. All the arbitration takes place without corruption or delay of the message that wins the arbitration.

  • The PDC control unit performs a system test after the ignition has been turned on. The parking aid is ready for operation on successful completion of the system test. The parking aid is activated automatically by engaging reverse gear. A delay of approximately 1 second is programmed on both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. The purpose of the delay in activating the PDC when engaging reverse gear on vehicles with an automatic transmission is to prevent unintentional activation of the PDC when passing through the R-position when changing the drive stage.

  • Prion diseases are fatal neurodegenerative disorders caused by proteina-ceous infectious pathogens termed prions (PrP Sc ). To date, there is no pro-phylaxis or therapy available for these transmissible encephalopathies. Passive immunization with monclonal antibodies recognizing the normal host-encoded prion protein (PrP C ) has been reported to abolish PrP Sc infec-tivity and to delay onset of disease.

  • Several questions were asked to determine women’s fertility preferences. These questions included: a) whether the respondent wanted another child and b) if so, when she would like to have the next child. The answers to these questions allow an estimation of the potential demand for family planning services either to limit or space births. Table 4 indicates that over half (52 percent) of women currently in union age 15-49 do not want to bear any more children. Women who want no more children and who want to delay the birth of their next child are considered in need of family planning....

  • In the traditional region of Northern Nigeria, Pathfinder has struggled to promote the use of modern contraceptive methods to delay and space pregnancies. Traditional communities in this area generally see children as a gift from God and, assured that He will provide for their families, resist limiting their family size or spacing women’s pregnancies. Sexuality is not openly discussed, so reaching families with RH/FP information and services has been difficult.

  • Contact with blood and other body fluids of another person require more intimate exposure than usually occurs in childcare settings. Some infections are spread through contact with contaminated blood with a cut that lets germs into the body. Following standard precautions to remove blood from the environment safely prevents transmission of bloodborne germs. Because it is impossible to know who might have a bloodborne disease, routine use of standard precautions protects everyone against the spread of HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Hepatitis D.

  • Panelists from the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction reviewed the literature for potential toxicities of HU. They concluded that HU does not cause a growth delay in children 5-15 years old . There were no data on the effects on subsequent generations following exposure of developing germ cells to HU in utero. Some evidence supported impaired spermatogenesis with use of HU. Although we identified six patients taking HU who developed leukemia, the evidence did not support causality.

  • A pandemic is a global disease outbreak. A flu pa demic occurs when a new influenza virus emerge for which people have little or no immunity, and f which there is no vaccine. The disease spreads ea ily person-to-person, causes serious illness, and can sweep across the country and around the world in a very short time. It is difficult to predict when the next influenza pandemic will occur or how severe it will be. Wherever and whenever a pandemic starts, every one around the world is at risk.

  • In the latest years much research effort was devoted to envision a new paradigm for wireless transmission. Results from recent works (Wireless Word Research Forum, 2005) indicate that a possible solution would lie in utilizing in a more efficient manner the diverse Radio Access Technologies1 (RATs) that are available nowadays, with the purpose of enabling interoperability among them and convergence into one global telecom infrastructure (beyond 3G).

  • The problem of investigation of time delay systems has been explored over many years. Time delay is very oft en encountered in various technical systems, such as electric, pneumatic and hydraulic networks, chemical processes, long transmission lines, etc. The existence of pure time lag, regardless if it is present in the control or/and the state, may cause undesirable system transient response, or even instability. Consequently, the problem of stability analysis for this class of systems has been one of the main interests for many researchers....
