The study was conducted to determine the above and below ground biomass of Acacia hybrid (Acacia auriculiformis*Acacia mangium) of different diameter classes at La Nga Forestry Company Limited in Dong Nai. A typical standard tree survey method was used to measure fresh biomass, the study cut down 45 trees of different ages and diameters for measuring the fresh biomass with 4 parts including trunk, branches, leaves (above-ground biomass), and roots (below-ground biomass).

In this research, the total carbon sequestration of a plantation consists of the carbon stored in above ground tree biomass was assessed. A total of 54 sample trees were harvested and dissected into their components included boles, branches and leaves to weigh biomass and converted into carbon stock of Acacia mangium Willd.

Melia azedarach L. is a multipurpose timber tree that is important in forestry plantations. Genetic modification to improve the growth rate and wood quality is important to produce new cultivars of M. azedarach. In this study, the effects of AtGA20ox gene expression on plant growth, wood formation, and biomass production in transgenic M. azedarach plants were investigated. AtGA20ox was inserted into the binary vector pBI101 under the control of the xylem specific promoter CAD4 and transferred to M. azedarach via Agrobacterium-mediated method.

Open-cast mining in tropical forests causes negative impacts on biodiversity and carbon storage. Postmining reclamation is therefore imposed to recover the vegetation despite the lack of understanding which indicators can be used to monitor the progress ofsuccession. This study proposes an integrated framework to assess the trajectory of vegetation succession in coal mining site in East Kalimantan, Borneo.

The results showed that AGC stocks were significantly lower than SOC, normally ranging from 9.9 to 29.55 tons ha-1 . Using the Walkley-Black method, the total SOC was estimated at the range of 81.76 to 323.83 tons ha-1 (with an average of 161.47±15.85 tons ha-1 ), which indicated a strong relationship between tree density and SOC. In addition, using the IDW interpolation method, this study estimated that the total CO2 absorbed by mangrove forests was 1,631,834 tons in Bang La and Dai Hop.

Populus trichocarpa is an important forest tree species for the generation of lignocellulosic ethanol. Understanding the genomic basis of biomass production and chemical composition of wood is fundamental in supporting genetic improvement programs. Considerable variation has been observed in this species for complex traits related to growth, phenology, ecophysiology and wood chemistry.

An experiment was conducted at Agroforestry Research Station, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat, India, The experiment was designed in randomized block design with four replications on 30 years old agroforestry tree plantation which consisted of four multipurpose tree species (MPTs) viz., Azadirachta indica, Prosopis cineraria, Prosopis juliflora and Acacia tortolis. Significantly the highest plant height (9.29 m), CD (29.16 cm) and DBH (31.

The study was conducted in 8 year old east-west and north-south directions bund plantation at CCS HAU, Hisar during 2015-2016 to evaluate the effect of Eucalyptus tereticornis bund planting on the yield of agricultural crops and soil properties in Haryana. Total biomass yield of dhaincha was significantly affected up to 3 m distance from tree line of both east-west and north-south planted rows of eucalypts.

Casuarinas are among the most important tree species for the production of high yielding wood biomass for fibre, rayon and energy needs. Among the 96 species of trees and shrubs in the family Casuarinaceae, Casuarina equisetifolia has gained much attention due to its multiple end-uses. India is the largest Casuarina growing country in the world, with an estimated 800,000 ha of plantations. About 500,000 ha are planted with Casuarina in the coastal states of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry

The traditional method used to estimate tree biomass is allometry. In this method, models are tested and equations fitted by regression usually applying ordinary least squares, though other analogous methods are also used for this purpose.

Compared to regressions obtained using the traditional logarithmic transformation method, the above regressions had a much better fit. The original biomass data of the sample trees were also used to calculate the proportion of total biomass apportioned to trunk, branches, leaves and roots.

The tree farming is ecologically as well as economically more viable than traditional agriculture. Investment in tree plantations always remained relatively low in India, inspite of the fact that the existing forests cannot continue to meet our wood requirements. However, realizing the existing problem, the expenditure on afforestation has increased enormously from fifth five year plan onwards but still the results on the land are not encouraging and we have not been able to increase area as well as the forest productivity to the desired level.

On studying the above lacuna, the study was initiated to study the carbon sequestration potential of the trees, shrubs and herbs in the native vegetation. This could provide new information to improve the accuracy in the estimation of carbon content for assessing the contribution of species towards the increasing ecosystem service of carbon fixation and storage.

A dynamic growth model (CO2FIX) has been used for estimating the carbon sequestration potential of Burans (Rhododendron arboreum), an indigenous medicinal plant of higher hills of western Himalayan region. The present study has been carried out in the campus of V.C.S.G. College of Horticulture, U.U.H.F., Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The temperature and rainfall of this hilly area ranged from - 4.0 to 28.0o c. It is capable of thriving on snow and heavy rainfall condition. CO2FIX was parameterized for a simulation of 50 years respectively.

This paper presents an in vitro experiment conducted to evaluate the optimum temperature and pH for growth of Phaeoacremonium parasiticum, responsible for oleoresin deposition in agarwood trees. In the present study, P. parasiticum was grown at four different levels of temperature viz., 25 ± 1°C, 27 1°C, 30 ± 1°C and 32 ± 1°C, and it was found to attain the highest radial growth at 30 ± 1°C (5.3 cm) followed by that attained at 32 ± 1°C (0.0452 m), 27 ± 1°C (0.0450 m) and 25 ± 1°C (0.0240 m). P. parasiticum was also grown at five different levels of pH viz., 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 7.
