Tree mulberry

Studies on different tree mulberry genotypes on rearing performance of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) was carried out to identify the best performing genotypes based on the bioassay performance of silkworm cross breed PM x CSR2 during rainy, winter and summer seasons of 2018-19at the Department of Sericulture, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore. The present study comprised of six mulberry genotypes viz., MI-012, MI-79, MI-21, MI-139, MI-516, ME-05 and two check varieties V1 and M5.

The study was conducted during 2017- 2019 in Katharighatta and Jodighatta village of Channarayapatna Taluk, Hassan District by the intervention of Krishi Vignan Kendra, Kandali, Hassan as a part of On Farm Test to evaluate the effect of growing intercrops on growth and yield of Tree Mulberry.

This article describes, which is widely used in the production of mulberry trees in Uzbekistan the hybrid of Uzbek mulberry (Oshima I2N2 (Morus bombycis Koidz.) × SANIISH-25 (Morus multicaulis Perr.), obtained by selection Jarariq 9 variety, grafted from Balkhi (Morus alba L.) and Shotut (Morus nigra L.) trees in vitro conditions in standard nutrient medium (MS, DKW, WPM)to get explant and their developing possibilities were analyzed.

Nutrient contents in the leaves of mulberry, Morus alba (L) made it to occupy the pace making place in the sericultural practices. The mulberry, Morus alba (L.) is native to eastern and central China. It became naturalized in Europe centuries ago. The tree was introduced into America for silkworm culture in early colonial times and naturalized and hybridized with the native red mulberry. The red or American mulberry is native to eastern United States from Massachusetts to Kansas and down to the Gulf coast.

A study was undertaken in farmer’s field condition by utilizing established five tree mulberry gardens of one-year-old and above and one bush mulberry garden as a control in each of the Chikkaballapura and Kolar Districts. The silkworm hybrids namely PM×CSR2 in Chikkaballapura cluster and double hybrid (FC1×FC2) in Kolar cluster were reared on leaves harvested from both tree and bush mulberry plantations and economic parameters were recorded.

The research study on “Analyses of post harvest management practices of sericulture entrepreneur was conducted in Zone III of north eastern part of Karnataka. The ex-postfacto research design along with snowball method of sampling is used for the study. It was corroborated that, 92 per cent of respondents fallowing 4 day harvest and 5 day sale during summer followed by 5 day harvest and 6 day sale during winter. Around sixty per cent respondents were taken by initial cleaning and seventy per cent of them involving in separation of inferior cocoons from lot.
