Himalayan Giant Nettle (Girardinia diversifolia (Link) Friis) is an eco-friendly plant from wild forest which the tribal population of Anjaw namely Digaru and Mizu Mishmi have been using as a fibre (Khujalli patta/ Chuaam/Tatsa) for weaving different items. This study was conducted in Hayuliang, Metengliang and Goiliang Circle of Anjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh. The data was collected from 40 male and female respondents by using a self-structured questionnaire of age group (20-50 years).

South India is full of diversities in tribes, languages, traditions and customs. The tribal costumes will bring up a picture of the tribal life. Some of the traditional costumes are almost extinct with change of time. Therefore, a study was conducted in West Godavari and Krishna Districts of Andhra Pradesh, and an attempt has been made to restore the traditional ornaments of Lambadi and Koya tribes through documentation before it could get completely diminished. So that, one can geta detailed information regarding different traditional ornaments used by these tribes.

Anaemia is a major public health problem worldwide, mostly among females of reproductive age in developing countries. In India, the prevalence of anaemia among women of age group 15 to 49 years is much higher. The pattern of consumption plays a role in shaping the health of the people of a state. Food habits effect nutritional status therefore is necessary to assess the tribal food habits because a particular tribe food habits differ to another tribe and also from one region to another.

The present study was conducted on 600 Vanaraja birds reared in backyard system at Udalguri district of Assam under Tribal Sub Plan project. The overall body weight of male and female Vanaraja birds at 40th week of age was recorded as 3980.53 ± 330.74 and 3080.55 ± 143.22 grams, respectively. Age of hen at first egg laying was 162.55 ± 11.43 days. Egg production of Vanaraja bird was recorded as 146 ± 14.66 per bird per year. The benefit cost ratio of male at 16 week and female Vanaraja bird at 1 year was recorded as 2.05:1 and 1.96:1, respectively.

Pig farming is dispensable to the tribal folks of Manipur, India. In this study, we tried to establish baseline information on the socio-personal and socio-economical status of small scale tribal pig farmers in the state. Altogether, 400 tribal pig farmers, rearing ≥ 2 pigs were selected randomly and interviewed from 4 blocks of Senapati district, Manipur. The study showed that majority of tribal pig farmers (69.75%) belonged to middle age groups (31-50 years), followed by 19.25% young age groups (up to 30 years), and 11% old age groups (> 50 years), respectively.

The main objective of this study was to assess nutritional status of the study subject. This was a cross-sectional study. Four hundred and two females (i.e. 15-49 age groups) were selected from 342 households for assessment of nutritional status. Stratified random sampling method was used for selection of seven villages. Families were selected by using Probability Proportion to size sampling technique. The primary tool in this study was predesigned and pretested interview schedule. Height, weight recording, Clinical examinations and body type of females were the part of the study.

Despite being a phenomenon unique to girls, this has always been surrounded by secrecy and myths in many societies. Taboos surrounding menstruation exclude women and girls from many aspects of social and cultural life. Some of these are helpful, but others have potentially harmful implications (Kaiser, 2008). The main objective of the present study was to assess the myths associated with menarche and menstruation among tribal females of Kargil.

The present study was undertaken to study thesocio-economic status of Khadia Chicken rearers along with phenotypic characteristics Khadia Chicken in two tribal districts of Northern Odisha. The sample size constituted two hundred households rearing 1435 Khadia chicken. The study revealed that 72.5 % of the poultry rearers earned Rs.20,000 per year which is a substantial amount to support their livelihood.
