Tribal groups based

A study was taken up among the tribal women in the Nilgiris district mainly to assess the determinants of tribal women SHG members for joining SHGs. Kotagiri and Gudalur blocks were selected based on the presence of NGOs specifically working for the tribes. Totally twelve SHGs have been randomly selected for the study. This comprises four each from Todas, Kattunayakas and Paniyas.

WADI project, though the name derived from a Gujarati term for orchards, works as a livelihood project for socio-economic development of tribal people throughout India. Being funded by NABARD and in Odisha implemented by ITDA, it is operationalised in most of the tribal dominated districts and is a holistic approach for the sustainable development of tribal livelihood. Ex Post Facto Study conducted in Champua Subdivision of Keonjhar district of Odisha taking the WADI adopting and WADI non-adopting tribal people as respondents shows the differences in development of both the groups.

The present study was conducted in Sahapur and Bhimpur block were purposively selected based on tribal area of Betul district of M.P. The total sample was consisted 120 respondents for the study. Objective of study is to study the profile of tribal farmers, and to seek suggestive measure to minimize the ill effect of agrochemical as perceived by tribal farmers.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a planned scheme of Indian Council of Agricultural Research plays vital role by organizing various mandatory programmes to the women for their empowerment in respect of knowledge and adoption of technology for the augmentation of crop production, food security, livelihood security, etc. KVK emphasizes on women empowerment through formation and functioning of SHG and providing training on entrepreneurial training which helps them to develop self confidence, attitude, motivation, economic independence, decision making, leadership, social mobility, etc.

In the present scenario of globalization, liberalization and privatization of agricultural sector, the sustainable development and empowerment of farm women is considered as a key factor for development of any country. According to the 2011 census of India, women constitute half of the total population. Participation of women in economic activities is now emerging as a universal phenomenon. Advancement of information and communication technologies created many opportunities for the development of talents of women in entrepreneurship activities.

A detailed inquiry was conducted on identifying methods to assess childcare beliefs and practices in tribal population with a view to prepare data collection tool for research study entitled “Assessment of infant care practices, conduction and effectiveness evaluation of need based awareness program on infant care among mothers of selected tribal groups.” Taking care of children depends on a variety of factors: the geographical location, religion and culture, socioeconomic status, educational background and the beliefs and values held by the family and its community.
