  • The present study was to document ethno medicinal plants used against health disorders and diseases in Marwar region of Rajasthan, India and to select potential medicinal plants for further in vitro and in vivo investigation. An ethno medicinal plant exploration was carried out in Marwar region of Rajasthan in the year 2017-18. Data on ethno medicinal plants ethnographic profile of the respondents was documented using semi structured questionnaires.

  • To supplement the livelihoods of tribal women and nutritional security in Tribal villages of Adilabad district of Telangana state, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Adilabad introduced Backyard Poultry (BYP) as a livelihood opportunity to the tribal women farmers. Under the Backyard Poultry 200 tribal women farmers were selected from the 8 adopted villages of KVK, Adilabad by Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques. Every tribal women farmer was given 10 Rajashree birds as a unit with a worth of Rs.680 and few supplementary medicines and vaccines were also supplied.

  • Several scientific studies are in progress using modern scientific tools based on the lead from the folkloric and herbal uses for formulating new western medicine. The present study involves the identification, enumeration and utilization of medicinal flora among the Irula tribes of Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu and a record of the endangered medicinal plants in the study area. A total number of 30 respondents of three villages, viz., Chenneri, Orathur and Kunavakkam-Kollamedu were selected by purposive random sampling.

  • Chironji (Buchanania lanzan Spreng.) is a member of the family Anacardiaceae and it is originated in the Indian sub-continent, is an excellent multipurpose tree species. Traditional indigenous knowledge reveals the immense value of almost all parts of the plant i.e. roots, leaves, fruits, seeds and gum for various medicinal uses.
