Trichophyton rubrum is a causative agent responsible for human chronic dermatophytosis worlwide. It is a common causative agent of the dermatophyte infections and resistant to many antifungal drugs. Oxidative damaging agents belong to a strong antimicrobial group and have been intensively investigated.

Trichophyton rubrum (T. rubrum) is an important model organism of dermatophytes, which are the most common fungal pathogens worldwide. Despite the severity and prevalence of the infection caused by these pathogens, current therapies are not sufficient.

Trichophyton rubrum is the main etiological agent of skin and nail infections worldwide. Because of its keratinolytic activity and anthropophilic nature, infection models based on the addition of protein substrates have been employed to assess transcriptional profiles and to elucidate aspects related to host-pathogen interactions. Chalcones are widespread compounds with pronounced activity against dermatophytes.

Diabetes mellitus is the most common endocrine disorder and takes on pandemic proportions. Dermatophytosis remains a significant public health problem. The objective of the study was to study the prevalence of Dermatophytic infection among diabetic and non- diabetic patients. It is a cross sectional study conducted during July 2011 to July 2012. All clinically diagnosed cases of dermatophytosis attending the Dermatology OPD of were included in the study. Among those 40 diabetic and 40 non diabetic Patients were included.

Dermatophytes are keratinophilic fungus that infects skin, hair and nails. They belong to the genera Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton. Some infections are caused by non dermatophytic filamentous fungi which are often resistant to treatment used for infections caused by dermatophytes. Hence this study was taken up to isolate and identify the causative agents of dermatophytosis and guide in the institution of proper therapy. Methods: All skin, hair and nail samples from suspected cases of Dermatophytosis were processed according to the standard microbiological procedures.

Superficial mycoses are the most frequent forms of human infections, Dermatophytes affecting more than 20 to 25% of the world’s population. They are predominantly caused by the keratinophilic fungi in the genera of Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton. 1. Isolation and identification of Dermatophytes causing skin, hair and nail infections. 2. To know the prevalence of Dermatophytic infections in Tertiary care hospital. This study was conducted from April 2018 to July 2018 in Department of Microbiology, J. J. M. Medical College, Davanagere.

Dermatophytosis refers to superficial fungal infection of keratinized tissues, caused by group of keratinophilic dermatophytes. The prevalence of dermatophyte infection varies with different geographic area and climatic conditions. It is one of the common fungal infection but in recent times it is one of the neglected disease. The present study was aimed to assess the clinicomycological profile of dermatophytosis to identify the various infecting dermatophyte species and to compare clinical diagnosis with KOH microscopy and culture.

The incidence of fungal infections is considered a serious public health problem worldwide. The limited number of antimycotic drugs available to treat human and animal mycosis, the undesirable side effects and toxicities of the currently available drugs, and the emergence of fungal resistance emphasizes the urgent need for more effective antimycotic medicines. In this paper, we describe a rapid, simple, and efficient synthetic route for preparation of the antifungal agent butenafine on a multigram scale.
