Tropical forests play a gibbous role among all types of natural ecosystems in energy and material exchange between earth surface and the atmosphere, receiving and converting great amounts of radiative energy and precipitation, creating about one half of land surface evaporation and one third of land ecosystems primary productivity.

Finger millet or ragi is the primary food source for millions of people in tropical dry land regions of Africa and Asia. Two field experiments were conducted to study the genotypic variation for silicon accumulation and the effect of foliar applied silicic acid on growth, nutrient uptake and blast disease resistance of ragi. Study showed a significant varietal variation for Si accumulation with an average Si content of 1.67 % in the above ground part.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is one of the major rabi pulse crop and is a cheap source of protein. It has also advantages in the management of soil fertility particularly in dry lands and the semiarid tropics. Despite of low productivity of chickpea is attributed to Fusarium wilt disease which caused by obligate biotroph Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri is consider one of the major limiting factor.

The soils were collected from different orchard and uncultivated fields, from four agroclimatic zones of Himachal Pradesh viz., 1) sub tropical sub montane and low hills 2) temperate sub-humid mid-hills 3) wet temperate and high hills 4) dry temperate high hills cold desert, and pesticide residue study was carried out in Toxicology Laboratory, Department of Entomology and Apiculture, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India.

This study determined the effects of seasonality on air pollution in a tropical city of Southern Nigeria. This was with a view to acquiring data that would be useful in policy formulation and planning for proper management of ailments that result from seasonal variation of air pollution in the study area. Sampling for the study covered a peri od of six months, between mid-October 2013 and mid-April 2014. Air pollutants, taken into consideration, include particulate matter (PM 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 10µm) and carbon monoxide (CO).
