  • Ly Son is a frontline island of our country that is often affected by adverse weather conditions such as monsoons or tropical storms. Studying the hydraulic parameters of tropical storms, including the storm's wave field, to determine extreme conditions plays an important role in forecasting, planning and construction of hydraulic works.

  • Microplastics are nowadays considered ubiquitous pollutants since they have been found widespread in all environmental compartments, particularly in aquatic systems. In urban water bodies, municipal wastewater discharges and overflows of combined storm and wastewater drains are the sources of microplastic pollution.

  • In this paper, the relationship between Tropical Cyclone (TC) Genesis Potential Index (GPI) and the number of TC (NTC) associated with ENSO over the Vietnam East Sea (VES) was investigated. Observed TC data of the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) Tokyo Typhoon Center and ERA Interim reanalysis data for the period 1985-2015 were used.

  • This study has selected a vortex tracking algorithm scheme for simulating the activity of tropical cyclone in the Vietnam East Sea by CCAM model. The results show that the CCAM model is able to simulate well the large scale in each month through a reasonable description of the movement rules of the tropical cyclone in the study area.

  • Coastal Louisiana's built and natural environment faces risks from catastrophic tropical storms. Concurrently, the region is experiencing a dramatic conversion of coastal land and associated habitats to open water and a loss of important services provided by such ecosystems. Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) engaged in a detailed modeling, simulation, and analysis exercise, the results of which informed Louisiana's Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast.

  • As recent weather events have illustrated, coastal areas in both developing and more industrialized economies face a range of risks related to climate change (IPCC 2007a). Anticipated risks include an accelerated rise in sea level of up to 0.6 meters or more by 2100, a further rise in sea surface tempera- tures by up to 3° C, an intensification of tropical and extra tropical cyclones, larger extreme waves and storm surges, altered precipitation and run- off, and ocean acidification (Nicholls et al. 2007).
