Lecture An introduction to computer science using java - Chapter 15: Text processing and file input/output. In this chapter we will: introduce recursion as a programming technique, show how recursion can be used to simplify the design of complex algorithms, present several well known recursive algorithms (e.g. quicksort, merge sort, Guaussian elmination), introduce the linked list data structure and recursive implementations for several of its methods, present programs for drawing two types of fractal curves.

There are many ways to measure the importance and the level of interdependent impact between consumption and production, in which structural path analysis is considered as one of the most powerful methods. Application of extended structural path method captures not only the linkages within the production system but also the transfer of the induced effect into different layers of impacts. Final demand purchases initiate production processes that ultimately lead to grow sectoral output into various channels. This evaluates the role of consumers' decisions in determining the production scale.

In the two-coupled distillation column process, keeping the tray temperatures within a specified range around their steady state values assures the specifications for top and bottom product purity. The two-coupled distillation column is a 4 Input/4 Output process. Normally, control engineers decouple the process into four independent loops. They assign a PID controller to control each loop. Tuning of conventional PID controllers is very difficult when the process is subject to external unknown factors.

Hybrid approach advocates combining two or more traditional technologies to overcome the limitations of the conventional practice. The devised Hybrid TIG MAG arc welding process with the help of an indigenous fixture overcomes the shortcomings of the conventional arc welding. The success of any hybrid technology depends on synergistic parameter interactions which demand a rigorous process control through parameter optimization. The devised process is controlled by 13 major parameters. Optimization of all the process controlling parameters is a resource consuming activity.

Highly tensile manganese steel is in great demand owing to its high tensile strength under shock loads. All workpieces are produced through casting, because it is highly difficult to machine. The probabilistic aspects of its casting, its variable composition, and the different casting techniques must all be considered for the optimisation of its mechanical properties. A hybrid strategy is therefore proposed which combines decision trees and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for accurate and reliable prediction models for ore crushing plate lifetimes.

The decoupling control is a research field related to solving this problem, which has been studied by many authors in the past. This paper addresses to propose a new decoupling control method applied for two input two output processes (TITO) with multi-time delays. Simulation results show that the performance of the system is improved in the sense, that no longer interfering between the loops is occurred as well as the process output disturbances had been completely eliminated.

This paper presents an online bearing damage identifying method named ASBDIM based on ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System), Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) and sparse filtering. This is an online estimating process operated via two phases, offline and online one. In the offline period, by using SSA and sparse filtering, a database signed Off DaB is built whose inputs are features extracted from the measured data stream typed big data, while its outputs are values encoding the surveyed bearing damage statuses.

This paper deals with the task of finding generally applicable substitutions for a given input term. We show that the output of a distributional similarity system baseline can be filtered to obtain terms that are not simply similar but frequently substitutable. Our filter relies on the fact that when two terms are in a common entailment relation, it should be possible to substitute one for the other in their most frequent surface contexts.

We build a two-country general equilibrium model of exchange rates that features two roles for nontraded goods: as ¯nal consumption and as an input into the production of ¯nal tradable goods (retail services). In addition to retail services, ¯nal tradable goods require the use of local and imported intermediate traded inputs. Intermediate traded goods and nontraded goods are produced using local labor and capital services. Thus, our model has an input-output structure (as in Obstfeld, 2001), where the output of some sectors is used as an input to the production of ¯nal goods.

Personal scale PCB milling machines use one of two processes, a mechanical etching process, or a process in which conductive materials are sprayed onto a base board. The mechanical etching process on a desktop circuit maker involves a rotating milling bit that mechanically etches out the desired circuit design onto a copper circuit board. Both etching and spraying techniques enable users to create multi-layer and finely detailed PCBs.

TWO-PORT NETWORKS Electronic circuits are frequently needed for processing a given electrical signal to extract the desired information or characteristics. This includes boosting the strength of a weak signal or ®ltering out certain frequency bands and so forth. Most of these circuits can be modeled as a black box that contains a linear network comprising resistors, inductors, capacitors, and dependent sources. Thus, it may include electronic devices but not the independent sources. Further, it has four terminals, two for input and the other two for output of the signal....

LEARNING STOCHASTIC NONLINEAR DYNAMICS Since the advent of cybernetics, dynamical systems have been an important modeling tool in fields ranging from engineering to the physical and social sciences. Most realistic dynamical systems models have two essential features. First, they are stochastic – the observed outputs are a noisy function of the inputs, and the dynamics itself may be driven by some unobserved noise process.

LABORATORY PROCEDURE I Sampling A. The time division Multiplexer (TDM MUX) module is used to recombine two analog signals into one data stream. The input A is connected to the OUT connector for a period T (T = 1/fs). During the next period, input B is connected to the OUT connector. The process then repeats. It should be obvious that each input, input A(or B) is “Sampled” at a rate equal to ½ fs as set by the Master clock. NOTE: The actual waveform sampling rate = ½ fs as set by the “DATA/Sampling RATE”, output, mentioned above (e.g. to...
